Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)This is a nice airport set for the price. It runs much cheaper than the very similar set marketed by Plan Toys. I'm not sure what the quality of that set is like (I'm guessing it is the same - they look like the same airport marketed slightly differently), but I'd rate this one as slightly above average.
Here's what we like about the set -
The design is very cute, and the kids love the elevator feature. After 2 years, the elevator still works well. Little features like orange cones, a ticket counter and a baggage belt make pretend play fun. The kids love running cars up and down the ramps.
Here's what could be better -
The elevator tower does pop off fairly easily. This makes it convenient for storage on a short shelf, but can be a pain if the tower pops off during play. The skywalk is a very cute idea, but it is a skywalk to nowhere, as the plane cannot be docked at it.
The plane is large enough to fit exactly one person - the pilot. It would be great to have room to add a few passengers. As it is, you check your passengers in, and they either have to fly the plane themselves or stay in airport limbo.
The taxi is a fun addition, but is not to scale and cannot fit any passengers. It would be much more fun if your passengers could actually arrive at and leave the airport in the taxi. The two ramps into the airport are great fun, but they also pop off easily. Very frustrating.
I'm also really just not sure what the point of the runway was. The runway consists of a few cardboard puzzle pieces that you fit together to make a runway. They do not stay together, and you can't really run the plane over them. A strip of black fabric or even a single strip of heavy-duty paper (maybe laminated?) would have been better.
I realize my list of dislikes is 3 times as long as my list of likes, but I still rate the product 4 stars. I think it is a good value compared to other similar sets out there. With the improvements I listed above, I'd certainly be willing to pay $20 more for the set - it would still be less expensive than the other wooden airports out there, with better gameplay.
