Kid Galaxy My First Radio Control Buggies Water Bug Review

Kid Galaxy My First Radio Control Buggies Water Bug

This is a good concept; the bug just spins in a circle until the one-button remote is pressed and it shoots forward in the direction it was last facing in its spin cycle. However, it eats batteries and is loud! Very annoying.

Thomas the Train: Easy Go R/C Thomas Review

Thomas the Train: Easy Go R/C Thomas
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Excellent toy! My 4 year old twins enjoy the Thomas remote train. The remote is easy to handle and only has two buttons, forward and backward, however the train can go in circles when pressing the back button. The train makes a toot toot sound right before the train stops. Also plays the instrumental Thomas theme song, taught my son with Autism how to hum the song. No wires, sturdy, works indoors and outside, batteries last a long time, great price for a remote toy. Highly recommend!

Fisher-Price Imaginext Big Foot The Monster Review

Fisher-Price Imaginext Big Foot The Monster
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My son got this for his 4th birthday. He was THRILLED to get it, and couldn't wait to get it home and start playing with it. He even tried to take it to bed the first night!
The first few days, he played with it repeatedly throughout the day. After a few days, he tired of it. He still enjoys the remote control aspect, but only uses it for 5 minutes or so at a time.
Pros: The BigFoot can do some pretty neat stuff, especially to a 4-year old boy! With the touch of a button, he roars, flips, burps, yells and throws a ball. The first time my son had him flip, he thought it was amazing and couldn't wait to do it over and over again. The remote is also easy to operate, and has just enough buttons to make it interesting and not overly complicated for the age group.
Cons: Some of the actions are not performed quite as smoothly or easily as on the commercials. For instance, to get the BigFoot to throw the ball, you have to place the ball just so, and hope the mechanical thumb closes around it. If it doesn't lock or close tight enough, the ball just falls right back out. Also, the ball doesn't really get thrown so much as dropped with style. Still entertaining for a 4-year old, but only after many, many frustrating efforts getting the ball to stick. Another con is the sheer size/weight of the toy. When it flips over or falls backwards, it lands with a boom. My son used it in a bedroom with laminate wood floor, and there is now a little chip in the floor from the BigFoot landing with such force. It makes odd mechanical noises when it breaths and moves its arms in resting mode, and when it moves around. This makes it a little hard to hear it talk at times, over the whirring. Lastly, and this is the one that my son wishes were different - it only moves backwards and forwards, not side to side. If you're trying to steer it around the room, good luck!
Overall, it's a pretty darned neat toy. For the money, I wish they'd made it more maneuverable and fixed the ball throwing.

B. Wheeee-Mote Control Car Review

B. Wheeee-Mote Control Car
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this for our grandchild as a Christmas gift. She is only 16 months old but it took no time for her to know how to get it to turn etc. with the one button. It is so easy to use. Seems very durable and we had no trouble with batteries etc- Everything fit right in. Everyone here from 16 months to 60 enjoyed playing with it so it got a good workout. The only problem I had with it is the noise which can get irritating after awhile. It is too constant of a sound when it is on. It is a great first time remote control car though.

My First RC Car (Colors May Vary) Review

My First RC Car (Colors May Vary)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Santa" got this for our two year old but past years have taught me to try electronic toys out early. We demo'd this car on 12/23 and were quite sad that it made loud noises but failed to respond to the remote at all. Attempting to trouble shoot it ourselves before braving the Christmas Eve lines for an exchange we discovered that the toy also requires a 9 volt battery (for the remote) which is not included. The box makes no mention of this but does state that it requires 4 AA's (included). ** You'll want to have that extra battery on hand to make the toy functional.**
Our little guy loves this toy despite the noise factor and it's much easier for him to use than his "big boy" R/C toys that were so frustrating to him. It took him less than an hour to figure out how to turn it off and on by himself. His little sister has dropped it, stepped on it, chewed on it and otherwise abused this car and it's still working just fine. It really is made well for the harsh play of a toddler.

We bought the go go bus and garbage truck. The kids love them- they are easy to use and durable. The bus is a little noisier than the truck. Fisher-Price GeoTrax Rail and Road System RC Set with Figure Assortment Review

Fisher-Price GeoTrax Rail and Road System RC Set with Figure Assortment
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am extremely disappointed in this train. As a design engineer, I can't help but think of the process used in designing GeoTrax toys, and I cannot believe they don't have a maximum allowable height & length for these. "Bull" is significantly taller than both of my son's other engines, and subsequently often gets stuck while passing under standard items (such as the upper level of the subway station). Additionally, the newer named engines seem to have a longer total length and wheel base than the older ones. This prevents them from working with some older Geotrax items, namely the roundhouse. This could have easily been prevented without sacrificing anything. Fisher-Price really dropped the ball.

Fisher-Price GeoTrax Rail and Road System RC with Figure: Alpine and Will Review

Fisher-Price GeoTrax Rail and Road System RC with Figure: Alpine and Will
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My son just received this for his 4th birthday. It's a great addition to his Geotrax set. He has 2 other remote trains but they only operate in forward motion. This one operates in both forward AND reverse! The engine and one of the cars has a compartment that can be opened and closed which is an added "fun" feature. The set also came with a little figure ("Wil") and a piece of cargo to haul around. For some reason Fisher Price decided to make this remote a bit noisier than his other remotes which I find to be a bit annoying but of course it doesn't bother my son in the slightest. Another good job from Fisher Price and Geotrax!

Chicco Baby Space Review

Chicco Baby Space
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I hate to select toys for our little boy, but I do not have to. My wife selects most and he gets an amazing number of gifts from well-meaning friends and relatives. One of the recent gifts is this Chicco remote-controlled robot. He enjoys seeing it wobble around and hearing it emit laughing and giggling sounds, electronic noises sounding like a defective R2D2 and flashing brightly-colored lights. It works somewhat like robot vacuum cleaners gong backward and forward in irregular patterns. He does not know how to operate it as yet so we operate if for him. It is a fun thing to diddle around with. The boy seems somewhat in awe and the cats run for cover. One of these days he will get onto how the remote control works and then his interest should pick up markedly. In any case, it is a rather weird toy. I would never choose it, but it was a gift and the boy seems to enjoy it.

Comfy iMote TV Remote Controller Review

Comfy iMote TV Remote Controller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Within the first few minutes of test driving her new iMote, my 2.5 year old (yes, I know the box says 3+) landed in the pr0n district, something she has never done before in all her access to the TiVo remote. We don't get those channels, and she can't read yet, so no blood = no foul.
I am submitting a review of this product because buyers need to be aware that it is still capable of wandering into pr0n. It is a bit of false advertising IMHO. The packaging says "You select 5 safe TV channels- all others are blocked" which is perfectly untrue. Nothing is blocked. We didn't buy the iMote for the purpose of TV censorship, that is not a concern in our house. I bought it so she could navigate to her channels easily. And then what happened? She found the pr0n channels! The box also says "SAFE TV FOR KIDS!" which is subjective anyway. The only way the TV is going to be "unsafe" and hurt my toddler is if she knocks it over on herself and the glass TV stand. TV itself in not an "unsafe" thing. I don't really care that she landed on pr0n channels because we don't get them. But I feel a review is necessary to inform potential buyers that the product makes false claims, because I'm sure a lot of potential buyers are looking at this product for the purposes of channel censorship.
The way the iMote works, it gets programmed to send out the 2 or 3 number combo that you would normally have to hit 2 or 3 buttons to do on the regular remote. The kid hits one button, and the iMote sends out the 2 or 3 numbers it takes to get to that channel. Well, the iMote must be aimed at the receiver while it sends all three numbers out, and if your toddler is a remote-waving button-masher (she gets that from me) then the iMote sends out more than enough numbers to the receiver. This is how she ended up on channel 595 instead of 295. I swear to God this was not a setup. She just FAILed the iMote in the first few minutes she had it.
I am continuously coaching her on the proper way to operate it:
Step 1: Aim the remote at the TV, don't wave it around
Step 2: Push the button ONLY ONCE
Step 3: WAIT for the channel to change
She is an impatient button masher. If I don't intervene, she just sits there mashing buttons until she gives up, usually landing on some black screen that says we don't get channel 29022 or something like that. I am hoping repetition of the three steps will sink in soon. If not, I am going to reprogram the iMote for her grandma (who is too much like a toddler to operate much of anything). So if your goal is to make the TV easier to navigate for toddlers or grandmas and your user is somewhat trainable (those 3 steps), then there is hope for this product. I do not think it should be advertised as some sort of TV censorship device.
The volume button has a little bit of a delay on it so that the kid doesn't end up turning the volume too loud too fast. Perhaps a delay should be added to the channel buttons too? Programming the iMote was a bit of a pain at first (user error). You have to hit one number and wait for the blinking light to tell you it's ready for the next number in the sequence. Read the directions well, and you can get it figured out. As far as I can tell, the way it is programmed means it should work with any TV setup you might have, as long as your channel numbers aren't any longer than 3 digits.
