(More customer reviews)To begin with, I believe that this pen should be included with the card sets it is intended for--or at list should be offered at a much lower price, considering that the cards themselves are pretty expensive. That being said, the educational value of the dog is dubious. It acts as described, lighting up red for wrong answers, sometimes with a "sad" sound, and green/barking for the right answer, but the child seems to be encouraged by any sound/light, and, frankly, the "sad" sound is much more fun for my 3-year-old son, so he deliberately presses the wrong answers just for fun--or selects random answers, just to hear the dog do anything. I think it would make more sense for the dog to light up/make a sound ONLY when the right answer is selected. If, however, your child is encouraged enough by "good job," etc., this may be the right choice for you. However, keep in mind the cards (which I like) will have the same educational value with or without this pen.
