I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, she absolutely loves it. It's durable so she can take it where ever she goes. Great little toy for camp outs!

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Explorers 2-in-1 Lantern Review

Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Explorers 2-in-1 Lantern

Like many of you reading this, my 3 year old and 5 year old children, LOVE playing with flashlights. However, they have broken many bulbs and switches in our normal flashlights due to hard use. So I was excited to find this "Kid-Tough" flashlight. I ordered two of them, one for each child.
I am sad to say after 24 hours, we will be returning both flashlights. Both lights shut off by themselves in the time range of 2 minutes 50 seconds to the 3 minute mark each time.
My 5 year old discovered this and was very frustrated by this. He kept having to turn it back on and he didn't like to have it go out so fast when he was playing in the dark. My 3 year old has not noticed, because she turns it on and off so often that this doesn't happen to her.
This flashlight is not supposed to have an auto shut-off. If it did, I would think that 15 minutes would be a more suitable time period, not 3 minutes.
We replaced the supplied batteries with Duracell alkaline batteries and there was no difference, still shuts off in about 3 minutes. There are two light settings, low (one bulb) and high (3 bulbs on). Again, both flashlights shut off in about 3 minutes regardless of whether one or three bulbs are on.
In the instruction manual is the following quote..."If this product begins to operate erratically, you may need to reset the electronics. Turn the power off and then back on." Okay, not so great. With our two flashlights, this "erratic" behavior starts at 3 minutes each time. I don't call that erratic, I think this was designed to shutoff if overheating and the overheating starts close to 3 minutes each time on both flashlights!
This is unfortunate, because the flashlight does appear to be durable and probably would have lasted a long time. My 5 year old can easily change from lantern to spotlight mode, it is too tough for a 3 year old to do this alone.
I will try another durable flashlight that I found on Amazon. If we have better luck with another flashlight, I will post an addition to this review.

It's a lantern and a spotlight with two lantern glow modes (high/low) and two spotlight beams. Easy-carry handle swivels for quick and easy conversion from lantern to spotlight and back again. Durable bumpers on the base and lens make it tough enough for little explorers. Built to survive drop, after drop, after drop. Requires 4 AA batteries.

Terra Kids - Camping Light Review

Terra Kids - Camping Light

We camp a lot and bought this lantern for our 6 year old twins. It is indestructible as ours has been dropped multiple times without a scratch. It stays lit (albeit dimly) all night (10+ hours) in our tent trailer with just 3-4 minutes of winding. The kids love winding it up and seeing the light very bright, and are curious as to how the generator works. It is great for an emergency light, also, as it does not need batteries.
