(More customer reviews)I have mixed feelings about this product. My 20 month old daughter plays with it alot and seems to enjoy it. My complaint is that the snaps, buttons and shapes can all be removed (and lost - and amazingly return) from the book. The plastic buckle on the buckle page was removed by my daughter within weeks. I've read reviews about how this book is great for the car and other types of travel. However, the pieces often fall to the floor of the car and most times cannot be retreived. The button page does not allow for both the button and button hole to be held, which doesn't emulate actual buttoning. The ballons that snap onto their page do not have any indication of where to line up or press the snap into place. I've already ordered another set of books where the pieces remain with the book.

V.Smile Interactive Learning Handheld Game Review

(More customer reviews)My kids love the V Smile system, so when I saw the V Smile Pocket and knew we were going to be taking a long car trip to Canada - I knew this would be a worthwhile investment! Using the A/V jacks in our entertainment system in the car, the kids were able to play using the 10 inch screen in the car with sound from the car stereo system. We've got about a dozen cartridges at this point, so there is something for everyone. Even the not-quite-two year old enjoys watching the screen as her 4 older siblings play! We're still waiting for the AC adapter to become available, but the batteries seem to be working fine for now. The screen is crystal clear, and the colors are great. Since my kids are new to the hand-held game experience, it took a little practice to get used to the joystick/thumb control - but even the 5 year old had it down in no time! Enthusiastically recommended!
Update: The above was written on August 9, 2005, and someone wanted to know if I still felt the same way now that some time has passed - glad to respond! We did have a problem with a second unit that we purchased (with 5 kids, 1 unit wasn't going to cut it!), but the company was quick to replace the faulty unit with a brand new one. Today is March 4, 2007, and our V.smile Pockets are still going! Occasionally they will not start up, but usually pressing the reset in the back takes care of it. Another thing my kids discovered is that sometimes blowing some air into the cartridge or into the slot in the machine where the cartridge goes will make everything function normally. Can't explain why - can only guess that perhaps a bit of dust might be removed by the blowing. And we get plenty of use out of the AC adapter that did eventually become available. Hope this will satisfy your curiosity - and yes, we are still happy!

20Q Challenge Review

(More customer reviews)I must live in outer space because I NEVER heard of this toy before! I was doing that half-browsing/half-buying, should-I-buy-now, should-I-wait, pre-santa, toy store thing most of us start every November when I spied this. My #2 son has a birthday on November 19th so I was desperate for a present for my parents to give...don't you love it?
SENSATIONAL TOY! It has been the focus of the entire family all weekend! Santa better have bagfulls of these when the word gets out!
You think of something, anything...the "toy" asks you general questions about what you are thinking about in an attempt to narrow your subject down. The questions, (which are easy to read) "appear in the orb". You answer the questions using the buttons on the toy...YES NO, etc. The toy will guess what you are thinking in 20 questions...(if you answer it's questions honestly). My boys spent the weekend attempting to stump the toy. We grown-ups spent the weekend amazed at all that is in this toy's database!
Purchasing this has eliminated the pressure of what-to-get several adults on my list, as well as a number of the kids.
Great "thought provoker"...and FANTASTIC for family "table time" after dinner. We brought our dishes into the kitchen and had our dessert and coffee WITH the children there (for a change) with this in the center of the table. We ended up dividing in pairs and trying to "stump" the toy. Some of the things we were thinking of were silly and we ended up laughing like fools at the questions and the possibilities of the answers.
This is a MUST HAVE game this Christmas! Snag this one early! I have a feeling it will be hard to get. Toys-R-Us has a great deal now where you can get a free hand held version which is just as much fun!
Fantastic grandparent gift for family! Fantastic gift for that difficult to buy for 9-20 age range! Perfect sit down interactive Mommy/Daddy and Me time for early readers. My second grader LOVES to sit with me and I help him read the questions.
Definitely NOT a wasted purchase!

It helps her practice her animal names & sounds, she gets to practice her ABCs & match up the letters to their names. Even the picture that was on the back of the box has become a learning toy. She has us read the names of the animals to her over & over again. We ask her which one starts with "J," for example, and we've made a game out of matching them up.
