(More customer reviews)This toy is very frustrating. It does not allow your child to finish typing the letter before it says they are wrong. You are supposed to check the box when you finish writing but you never get a chance to. If the letter isn't written perfectly it says it is wrong. This is very frustrating to a child who is just learning to write. I do not recommend this product and we are returning it ASAP.

Touch & Discover Alphabet Town Review

(More customer reviews)My son plays with this first thing in the morning. (Luckily there are two settings for volume) Alphabet Town lights up and 'talks' to him. There are many settings like: clocks, music, simon says, directions, spelling and phonics. I really like the music button. My son likes to dance to the music of all the songs I have sung to him. I find it a good value due the variety of activities. It also fits on his lap and is very portable. I love watching him learn while having fun.

Vtech - Write and Learn Smartboard Review

(More customer reviews)Someone at Vtech had a great idea, but the engineers just didn't follow through. The concept of this toy is great, but it just doesn't work as advertised.
My 5 yo daughter received one for her birthday and couldn't wait to start using it. She eagerly wrote her letters (correctly) in the box only to be told "Oops! Try again!" This happens at least 75% of the time! I have even gotten the same response when I write letters or numbers.
I understand that children need to learn to write letters a certain way, and the toy does teach that, but it won't accept most letters/numbers that ARE written correctly. There is also a time delay, so if the child starts to write the letter before the machine is ready, it doesn't "see" what has been written and assumes it was wrong.
If this toy is frustrating for the average parent, imagine how a 5 year old feels. I have taken out the batteries and hidden the toy because I can't stand the sound of it anymore (no volume control either - grrr) I don't want my child being told her writing is incorrect, when its not.

(More customer reviews)My kids, now ages 5 and 3, have loved this toy since we got it over a year ago. It teaches numbers, and positions (above, below, next to) and has a "follow the lights" memory game. The voices and tones are surprisingly pleasing to grownups, and there are two volume settings. It has survived falling to the tile floor numerous times. Highly recommended, especially for Thomas enthusiasts.
