My First RC Car (Colors May Vary) Review

"Santa" got this for our two year old but past years have taught me to try electronic toys out early. We demo'd this car on 12/23 and were quite sad that it made loud noises but failed to respond to the remote at all. Attempting to trouble shoot it ourselves before braving the Christmas Eve lines for an exchange we discovered that the toy also requires a 9 volt battery (for the remote) which is not included. The box makes no mention of this but does state that it requires 4 AA's (included). ** You'll want to have that extra battery on hand to make the toy functional.**
Our little guy loves this toy despite the noise factor and it's much easier for him to use than his "big boy" R/C toys that were so frustrating to him. It took him less than an hour to figure out how to turn it off and on by himself. His little sister has dropped it, stepped on it, chewed on it and otherwise abused this car and it's still working just fine. It really is made well for the harsh play of a toddler.

My 2 year old son likes to throw thing down the stairs and most toys don't survive that - this truck does. It is great, durable and he loves it. And it actually looks much better in real then it does on the picture here.

This toy has a nice feature where you can turn the robot sides and it operates either a forklift on the back and a moving pay loader on the front. The toy operates by pressing the robot from the head which activates a motor inside the operator which has a gear system that operates either system. The toy is well constructed and so far is working fine. The toy comes with two size C batteries, you'll need to purchase two more. It uses a total of four.

My son had been asking for a remote control car for ages so we decided on this one as a starter. He was so excited when the box arrived, but when we installed the batteries and tried to play with it, it just didn't work. Kind of went off and on, stop and go--as if there wasn't clear communication between the remote control and the car. We were very disappointed. Also, this car only turns in one direction.
