Vtech Ride and Learn Giraffe Bike Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This toy was given to my two year old on his birthday. It was difficult for him at first but he has improved his balance and coordination trying to pedal. He only spends short amounts of time on it but this is true with most things. It is also quite cute to hear him repeating the alphabet as it sings to him especially since he is a little boy not wanting to talk very much. I think it is great for his age as it does challenge him. I wish the music had a volume button as it is a little loud. It is light enough that he can drag to other rooms. Another reviewer said is was boring for his 4 year old and my little guy will probably be done with it by then but for right now he is enjoying it.

Fisher-Price Michael and His Rescue Rig Review

(More customer reviews)My two year old grandson is into fire trucks and this is one of his favorites. i did put away the storage cones and other small attachements until he gets older because they just ended up all over the floor.

Michael's Rescue Rig is a cool fire truck vehicle that provides kids with all the role-play "tools" they need for fire-fighting adventures. The set includes two articulated firefighter figures, and the vehicle has areas for firefighter Michael and his sidekick to drive and ride. Figures can ride up front, hold on in back, or use the crane to cruise high into the air. There's a real winding hose, a ladder, cones and a caution sign. Fun rescue lights and sounds accompany all the action. Everything included with the set stores on the vehicle for easy clean-up and take-along play. Measures 12" x 5" x 14".

Soft & Sturdy Jumbo Blocks Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought these blocks for my 5 and 2 year old boys at Christmas and they have played with them every day since. Despite the blocks being foam, they are very durable and the only wear is a few teeth marks! The bright colors and soft texture seem to make them irresistible. The boys' imaginations never stop coming up with new ways to use them, and they delight in the tall towers they can make that are relatively stable because of the grippy surface of the foam. These are far superior than the wood type because they are so light they don't hurt or damage the furniture, and the scale and size of the pieces makes them the perfect ramps for little cars and houses for small stuffed animals. Hours of quiet, battery-free fun - probably the best toy purchase I have ever made. A safe bet if you don't know what to get a preschooler.
January 2009: I wrote the above part of this review back in May of 2006 and I am just adding that we are on kid#3 (a girl this time) and these are still in good shape and being played with almost daily.

Preschoolers will love these chunky foam blocks. They're easy for small hands to grasp and they're safer than traditional wood blocks. Blocks come in four bright colors - red, blue, green and yellow -- and a variety of geometric shapes. Promotes color and shape recognition. Foam is safe, sound-free and even floats in water! 44 blocks.

iPlay Zip Around Mountain Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My son is 22 months old and he loves this toy. We already have lots of leapfrog or fisher price educational toys for him so this one is a nice change. He loves to see the balls or cars running down the track and coming out thru the tunnel at the bottom. The track is wide enough for him to play with his other balls and little cars from home so he won't get bored easily. U can put your object behind the gate or at the open area with the red button. U press down the traffic light and the gate would open.
The only part that needs batteries is the traffic light and you can just switch it off if you don't like the sound effect. It's easy to assemble and sturdy enough for a toddler. But, of course, if your baby decided to climb on it, that's a different story.
Overall, it's a simple but fun toy to collect for your toddler. It would keep him busy for a good amount of time.

Fisher-Price Bubble Mower Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this bubble mower for my three-year-old son. He was so excited that he had me wedge the big box on the floor in front of his seat so he straddled it for the half-hour ride home. Of course, we assembled it the moment we arrived home.
At first, it didn't blow bubbles, it just sputtered them in the wheel with the holes. We tried it many times (took way more than twenty steps - more like two hundred) and I noticed bubbles were trying to form but then they'd pop immediately. I re-read the directions several times. Fisher-Price is a trusted company and I was sure they wouldn't manufacture a toy that really didn't perform. I was getting pretty upset and my son was very disappointed. As a last resort, I took the mower and rinsed the bubble solution out and replaced it with a different brand of bubble solution. I almost didn't do it because I thought there was no way the 'engine' could be clogged - it was brand new!
But it worked. Now my son pushes it only ten steps or so and it starts spitting out groups of bubbles just like the picture on the box. Apparently, it was the original bubble solution that caused the 'malfunction'.
The solution I switched to was the huge 100 ounce Miracle Bubbles from Wal-Mart. But, even with this, you must be careful that the mower doesn't get shaken around a lot because if the bubble solution becomes foamy it will not blow bubbles. It does seem to take normal walking around very well.
I hope this solution works for anyone else who bought this mower. It's really cute and my son loves it.

What do kids love about this Bubble Mower? The bubbles, of course! Now they can have twice the fun with double the bubble action and cool new realistic styling. It's more fun than ever to pretend to mow the lawn because the Bubble Mower can keep the bubbles blowing for a whole mile of mowing fun. It's all-new bubble dispensing system features a bigger dispenser for less fill-ups, and a one-press no-mess refill. Just press it once and you're good to go for a mile's worth of bubble fun. Also features realistic sounds and all-terrain tires for tougher traction on grass and other surfaces.

Fisher-Price Musical Tea Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I searched all over for a tea set that my 2-year-old daughter could actually use. This one is wonderful! The set is sized just right -- the cups hold enough that she (and I) can actually drink out of them, the teapot holds enough to pour liquid into all four cups, the teapot is easy to pour, and the cups are easy to hold. To top is off, it's a really pretty set, has a very well designed, easy to use tray, and is made of super durable molded plastic! Not to mention then cream and sugar set, spoons you could actually use if you wanted to, and a very reasonable price.
I was concerned about the "pouring" noise making us crazy as it kept going off when I wrapped the gift, but found that in the course of normal play it's not bothersome. Just store the gift flat until it's unwrapped. My daughter found it really intriguing to unwrap a gift that was singing.
My daughter has a lot of fun playing with this toy and serving all her stuffed friends. It's on my gift list for all the little girls I know.

BRIO Natural Blocks - 50 pcs Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)These look like the standard wooden blocks we all grew up with in the online picture, but they are not. These are in fact a miniature version of our old standard blocks - maybe a quarter of the size. Perfect for losing all over the house, and not at all what I had in mind for my little boy. I see now in the online picture that there are no children in the picture with the blocks so that one might be tipped off to the size. If you are looking for little blocks, that's fine, but if you are expecting the old familiar basic chunky wooden blocks, look elsewhere.

Viking 15-Piece Chubbies Bucket Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We bought some of the slightly larger chubbies at a store and I've been looking for more. I took a leap of faith based on the above reviews and was rewarded. The tub contained:
2 boats
2 planes with propellers and wheels
1 helicopter
1 train
2 train cars
1 wagon
1 bulldozer
4 truck/cars.
It is more similar to this picture: http://www.grandrivertoys.com/images/products/N5615_L.jpg
So, they are not all the same car! Thanks Kaplan Learning Center! Another fabulous selection. My two year old will have an exciting easter! (I think we'll hide them instead of eggs!)

Plan Toys Percussion Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I got this for my kids for christmas. They all love it (ages 5.5, 3.5, and 18 months). This is very durable and great. The sound is pretty and it isn't like the other annoying musical instruments. The natural materials make the sound softer. I love it and so do my kids. The rack idea wasn't the brightest idea. Don't get this thinking you're going to use the rack, because it just doesn't work. We have a cute basket where we put this and the plan toys xylophone and solid drum in as well. All wonderful products!!

Melissa & Doug Deluxe 50-piece Wooden ABC/123 Blocks Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Although the recommended age is 2 years, I confirmed with the manufacturer that this age recommendation is for the child's interest/educational sake and not safety related. My ten month old loved the blocks and immediately bagan examining each one, as well as tasting them as everything goes in her month at this age. Within minutes, I noticed she had something in her mouth that she was chewing on. The blocks are made from such soft wood that with a little saliva she was able to scrape wood (and ink) off with her teeth! The ink on the side of the block was already smearing with a little saliva, and as I said she was able to scrape off the wood-- enough to chew on! Needless to say, the toy was taken away from her (much to her dismay). I was very disappointed with the quality of this classic styled old fashioned toy.

Fisher-Price Little People Racin' Ramps Garage Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)For my son's 3rd birthday we gave him this parking garage. He loves cars and I was concerned whether hot wheels type cars would fit on the ramp and couldn't find that information anywhere. You can see in the picture that there is a divider in the ramp...however most hot wheels cars do roll down it nicely. It's large enough that two or more children can play with it together and stay busy! We found it at Wal-Mart for about the price posted on Amazon. I had the "old school" version of this garage as a kid and it was sturdier. I don't get why modern has to mean weaker, but we're happy with this toy anyway. You have to assemble it and "snap" many parts together but it also uses screws which was important to us because my son enjoys disassembling (snapping) and breaking his toys.I know, that's awful.

Little Kids My First Bubbles Peek-A-Boo Surprise by Little Kids Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)After seeing this recommended in Baby Talk magazine, I bought it without reading the reviews. I returned the first one bc it didn't work, but, surprise the second didn't work either! I called Customer Service of Little Kids before returning the second bc I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. (though I read all the instructions). I was told to hold the handle down for "up to 5 minutes to prime the tube". Well it worked finally...for about 5 minutes. In addition, the bubbles leaked out of the bottom! I called Little Kids back & a customer service rep. answered right away! The company sent me a new one (within a week). Great service and very kind reps. The "newer" model comes with a blue bottle of bubbles(not the yellow star) and the machine is slightly different. The refill cap screws tighter & therefore prevents leaks. Well this one works GREAT!!! My baby loves the continuous stream of bubbles. It still requires a little priming (about 30 seconds). The whale head pops up and down and little fingers can get stuck in the top (where the bubbles come out) and on the sides, so I would recommend only using this with adult supervision.
