Big Tape Measure Review

I got this because my four-year old kept playing with the "real" one that I have in my toolbox. He plays with this toy every now and again (he's not as enamored with it as he is with mine), but mostly it just sits in his playroom. My guess is that if it had a self-retracting mechanism he would play with/use it a lot more. This toy requires the child to wind it up after each measure (a process that isn't always smooth due to the flexible plastic material that comprises the tape itself) - probably good for learning some fine motor skills, but I think my child's interest would be held longer if he could watch the tape retract by itself with a push of a button.

My son loves to help my husband around the house. I had the hardest time keeping him away from the real tape measure and then found this tape measure online. Now I just have to say, get your own 'measure' (as he calls it) and there is no more fighting. It's safe and is long enough that he feels he is actually helping daddy. Last night he told me 'look mommy, I am counting too' Great toy.

Learning to measure is fun. The Pretend and Play Tape Measure is a great introduction to inches and centimeters. Its large size is perfect for small hands, and the durable plastic construction and easy-grip handles make it easy to use and built to last. Tape measures up to 36" (100 cm). Toy measures approximately 7" x 7.5" x 3".
