Elefun Review

Elefun

I have a 4 year old and 1 year old and they love this toy. Cheap batteries don't last in this toy, you need the super high quality ones. As for butterflies not coming out, it works just fine with new batteries. You may have to bend the wings out a bit. They come folded in one direction, just flip them the other way, so they open up and look more like butterflies. The trunk stays up if you bring it up manually after turning it on and it will stay up even after turning it off. Don't use it on soft carpet because the unit will not turn on that way. You can solve that problem by placing a book underneath, though. My only recommendation is that they include more butterflies.
UPDATE:
My oldest is now 8. The kids still enjoy this toy at the grandparents' house. It has lastes many years and both my children and my niece and nephew enjoy it. The trunk is getting worn but I'd say we've gotten our money's worth.

iPlay Quackers Game Review

iPlay Quackers Game

This WOULD have been an okay toy - IF the little egg that you hide wasn't broken. The idea is to hide the egg under the little ducks, spin them around and then, listening for the quacking sound the hidden egg makes, guess which duck is sitting on that egg. We followed the instructions and pulled the plastic tab out of the supplied plastic egg, but it only quacks if you shake it vigorously in your hand. The little device that makes it quack when you set it on the tray never worked. We go ahead and hide and try to find the egg anyway, but not having it quack sort of misses the whole point and greatly lessens the "fun" value of this game. Too bad.

Spin the ducks' nest round and round. Can you hear the quacking sound? When the nest stops spinning players try to locate the hidden quacking egg by peeking under the ducks. Whoever finds the egg first wins. Watch out you don't choose the duck who is sitting on the rotten egg! Contents: 1 spinning duck nest, 6 ducks, 1 electronic quacking egg, 1 rotten egg, 9 quackers cards. For 2-4 players.

Gator Golf Review

Gator Golf

I was hoping this would be a fun indoor game for my three boys now that the weather is turning cooler. But it just doesn't work like it should and lacks the entertainment factor. The object of the game is to hit the golf ball into the gators mouth and then have the ball pop up out the back and into the air. But when then ball is hit into the gators mouth it rarely ever makes it into the small opening in back where it is supposed to pop up in the air. We tried playing this on carpet and hardwood floors. Neither helped. Also tried hitting the ball from far away and from close up to the mouth. Again not much luck. The opening of the Gators mouth is large but once in the gator the ball rarely makes it to the small area to be popped up into the air. The gators mouth has to be propped open before hitting the ball towards it. That was no problem for my 5 year old but for my 3-year-old twins I constantly had to help them prop open the gators mouth. The game comes with two golf clubs and balls. The golf clubs are flimsy and and easily bent. I'm bummed that this game wasn't more fun and durable. It looked the right idea on TV. But after the kids realized the ball wasn't going to pop up out the back they lost interest in it within a day since it wasn't entertaining...

Pop Goes Froggio Review

Pop Goes Froggio

The replay value of the game isn't that great. My nearly three year old had trouble getting the frog to "hop" very high, and thus got frustrated easily. When I played with him he would be interested for a moment, but really the "game" aspect of the toy is not that great - the real excitement is in launching the frog. Of course, if you can't launch the frog there isn't much point to playing. Even my weight stomping down on the device didn't give Froggio much air time.

Hasbro Elefun Review

Hasbro Elefun
Average Reviews:

I look for toys that are fun and easy to play with. I also look for toys that are educational or inspire exploration of the world around them. I want toys that are not really loud as well.
This toy fits many of these requirements.
My four year old son got this for his birthday and has loved it ever since.
Like the other reviewers, the trunk does not go all the way up when you first turn the fan on. However, that doesn't take away from the fun of the game. In fact, we just cut the top few inches off of the trunk and that seems to have made the difference.
Catching butterflies is harder than it looks. That is part of what adds to the fun. They also come out in spurts. You might get four butterflies and then one and then ten. All of this just adds to the fun. Catching the butterflies encourages eye and hand coordination and quick thinking.
My only complaint is that more butterflies would be fun. There are plenty of butterflies but it doesn't take too long to play because they come out fairly quickly.
However, this is great for young children who have a short attention span. You can finish one or two games and call it quits before they get bored.
We haven't found this to be a battery eater.
in general this is just a fun game with one or two small flaws that are easily overlooked when playing a game with your kids.
Enjoy.
