(More customer reviews)This is a great idea for a great marketing group . . . little kids who want to listen to music "just like the big kids." The FP3 has a few issues of it own, but the speakers were disappointing. The sound quality is not good. Even with the volume turned up it is difficult to hear. Another huge down fall is that a power cord is not available . . . so you can end up going through batteries pretty fast. To top it all off, my son has difficulty getting the FP3 correctly mounted into the speaker unit on his own. Overall we were very disappointed with this accessory.

(More customer reviews)I was skeptical of purchasing this item, since although Fisher-Price is a great brand, there haven't been the greatest reviews on some of the other "Kid Tough" items. But I am SO GLAD I did!
This was purchased as a birthday present for my 3 year old. He loves music, and I had contemplated buying him an Ipod Touch for his birthday for the music and games, but instead purchased this and Leapster Explorer.
It holds a good amount of music, around 50-60 songs, depending on the length. The sound is loud but not too loud. The microphone is cute and my son loves to sing along with his music.
It is VERY durable, and I don't worry about my son playing with it, even though drops are inevitable.
The setup is very simple, you download software from fisher price and then it has a very simple uploader for your songs.
Overall, I think this is a great choice for any child who loves music and has their favorite songs. The battery power leaves a bit to be desired, so I would invest in rechargeable batteries.

Playskool Made For Me Mp3 Music Player Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this for our 3 year old son. He loves it. The software is super easy to use. My Son's attention span isn't as long as the amount of music this can hold. My only complaint is the voice record feature. It is one button on the mp3 player and if your child pushes it it will record automaticly. Any and all sound including interference from other electronic devices. Makes a terrible sound. You then have to plug the MP3 into your computer to erase all the files recorded via the voice record button. Also, these voice record files land under the favorites category. This is the first category that comes on whenever you turn on the unit. A possible way to avoid this is to fill up the MP3 as much as you can so there is no room for recording. However it is hard to find that exact golden number so that you have 000 MBs/KBs left. I have yet to hit that nail on the head. Aside from this one long winded complaint I would reccomend this unit even though it is a bit $$.

My two-year old loves music but destroyed two CD-players by constantly pressing the buttons and opening and closing the units; I was searching for a durable MP3 player without lots of buttons and "Carry A Tune" is exactly what I was looking for. It is easy to hold, durable (has been dropped and even thrown down a flight of stairs and still worked) and allows you to download your own MP3s or children's music CDs onto it. The buttons are simple but still a little bit beyond my son's understanding. An excellent feature is the auto-off feature which saves batteries. Battery life is pretty good.
We discovered recently, however, that the unit is not waterproof when it was dropped into the bathtub by my son. Of course, it is not supposed to be waterproof. We love this so much I am going to buy another one.

I gave it 4 stars because I think things like FP3 players need a home and it serves that purpose great. It matches with the player and is built to withstand kids. I did take a star off my rating because, as it does have a smallish loop to hold it by, it should really have a handle. Little hands need something easy to hold on to, and the little loop does not suffice for any purpose I could see.

Blue Hat Toy Company Little Tunes MP3 Player Review

(More customer reviews)First of all, I bought ours for $29.99 from Carson Pirie Scott brand new (it's a pricey department store FYI and it was "marked down" from $60). Whoever this vendor is, they are RIPPING YOU OFF!!!
But even at $30 I have not been too pleased. I bought 2, one for us and one for a christmas present. One of the 2 was broken when I got home. I exchanged it for another. Our toddler has been using ours for a month when it broke too! Then when we tried to plug it into the computer, the USB port broke off and is now rattling around in the case! (And no, I do know what I am doing and didn't use excessive force.)
This is really too bad because our toddler LOVES it and has taken it everywhere (dr office, store, long car ride). He can work the buttons just fine, and has thrown it and stepped on it without it skipping or powering down. It seems well-designed for little hands that aren't too gentle. In fact, when it broke we had just turned it off for the night and then it didn't turn on again in the morning for reason...
The battery life is pretty good. I would say we got about 2 weeks of near nonstop use out of each set of batteries. I wish it was rechargeable.
So, last week this would have gotten 5 stars. Now it gets 2.
UPDATE: We replaced this with the $60 SweetPea 3. It is so superior to the Blue Hat!! It is sturdier, smaller yet still 100% useable by little fingers, has 4 times the memory, the same battery life with just 1 battery instead of 4, and has actual firmware so you can make playlists, adjust the auto turnoff time, etc. Plus the volume knob is hidden, and it resumes at the same song it was on when it turned off, instead of the BH one which starts over at the beginning every time. The only thing it doesn't have that the Blue Hat had was a scrolling song titles. BUY THE SWEETPEA!

Fisher Price Kid Tough FP3 Song & Story Player - Blue Review

The pros:
1. The volume maximum is not so loud that it will hurt their ears if they turn it up all the way.
2. The construction is sturdy, good for rough and tumble pre-schoolers who like to drop and throw things.
3. The large buttons and icon navigation are very easy for a 3 year-old to understand.
4. The "create your own icon" feature is a nice touch for odd songs.
5. The ability to choose stories or song from the get go is a nice option.
6. The headphones actually fit little heads unlike the ones that come with those cheap portable cd players you might have purchased for your little one in the past.
7. The Fisher Price web site is filled with reasonably priced music and stories appropriate for the pre-school age group.
The cons:
That being said, there is one large flaw: importing MP3s! I spoke with the customer support staff at Fisher Price and they said it was a legal issue with the owners of the MP3 format. I don't care!! Work it! To import the music and stories you already have on your computer, this is what you will have to do:
1. Burn all of the music and stories you would like to import onto a cd.
2. Copy the songs/stories from the cd to the Fisher Price FP3 software.
3. Transfer each song/story to the FP3 player.
4. Type in title and artist information for each song/story.
5. Choose an icon, or create an icon from scratch.
6. Assign the icon to the story/song.
This is a huge pain! Just filling my son's FP3 player took over 3 hours.
A word of advice to those of you buying the FP3 player as a gift, burn all of the music/stories onto a cd ahead of time! Block out a few hours to program the FP3 player Christmas morning or after the birthday party, or better yet, do it all ahead of time so that you give the gift ready to go out of the gift box to avoid a tantrum (yours & theirs).
Kudos Fisher Price on developing a nice portable digital music system for pre-schoolers. I blow a raspberry at you for the painful process you make parents go through.

(More customer reviews)We got this MP3 player for my 4 year old daughter,and she absolutely loves it. It is easy to use, well made, and perfect for little ones to be just like the "big kids". It came with a few stories and songs and was very easy to download additional music off our CD's. My only complaint is that the volume adjust could be a bit louder as it was harder to hear when using in a loader environment like a car.

(More customer reviews)My one year old got this as a gift for her 1st birthday. She usually loves musical toys, so we let her have this toy right away. She had a great time watching us wind the back for about two minutes. She was clapping her hands with her eyes wide open. The actual toy was quite a let down. The music volume is very low. The largest button is the "radio" which just plays static (like when you are between radio channels). The buttons don't always work. The toy only lasts about 15 minutes after a 2-3 minute charge. I also broke my thumbnail off while winding the toy.
