Large Kitchen Review

Large Kitchen

As my kids began to outgrow their Discover Sounds kitchen, I began scouting around new kitchens. I checked out the many plastic molded kitchens, but opted to go the wood kitchen route. Of the wood kitchens, this is far and away the nicest, best equipped, and most attractive kitchen I've found. The sink is removable and can actually be filled with water. The faucet swivels, the clock hands are movable, there are two shelves in the cabinet beneath the sink for storage, two shelves in the refrigerator (in addition to the freezer compartment on top), and a white grooved shelf in the oven that serves as the removable oven rack.
There is room for lots and lots of playfood, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and small appliances. I love that the color scheme is suitable for both boys and girls, and much more appealing than the more institutional-looking wood kitchens.
The assembled kitchen is approximately 42" wide X 43" high X 16" deep (excluding handles and knobs). It took my husband and I over an hour to assemble, and as each additional piece gets attached, it locks the piece together very solidly.
There is room for multiple children to play simultaneously, as my children often do. It is a major piece of our playroom, and an integral part of my kids' day-to-day play.

Create Your Own Light and Sound Kitchen Review

Create Your Own Light and Sound Kitchen

I purchased this for my three year old girl and she loves it! It was easy to put together and the top of the stove lights up and makes bubbling and frying sounds. The stove door and refrigerator door take a little bit of pressure to close, but overall really super cute and does not take up too much space. My one year old boy can't stay away from it either! The accessories that it comes with are really cute-4 purple mugs, 4 yellow plates, 4 pink plates, 4 each of purple forks, spoons and knives, a hanging spatula, knife and soup ladle, a frying pan with clear lid, a white square cooking dish with clear lid, 4 cardboard juice boxes. The fridge & stove do not have a shelf in it but ample space to store play food. Totally recommend this item-can't beat the price. The only thing, just make sure you take the time to snap in the pieces when you assemble-the directions are on the box. Love it!

Kidkraft Ultimate Wood Play Kitchen Review

Kidkraft Ultimate Wood Play Kitchen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We initially bought a reasonably pricey plastic kitchen for our 2.5 year old kitchen-crazy boy and it was so flimsy it easily tipped over and I thought he would break it by accident. Needless to say, we returned it as soon as we could. We then did some research and decided on this one. Any of the other Kidkraft kitchens would be just as good, I just preferred the look of this one (not as much pink as the 'Large Wood Kitchen' with the pink fridge and freezer). The one we bought also had a blue fridge and freezer.
In the other reviews of Kidkraft kitchens on amazon and other websites, I read that a lot of customers were impressed with the build quality. As soon as I opened the box, I was impressed that the company had not skimped on the protective packaging that covered every wood part of the kitchen. It was so tightly packed, that we took photos of each layer we unpacked (in case we had to return it for some reason). Both I and my father (who used to be a carpenter & joiner) thought that it looked like it was made in a kitchen factory:just as sturdy. As soon as the kitchen was put together, the two boys next door (8.5 years and almost 4 years old) came over to play. The kitchen wasn't too small for the older boy, and it also wasn't too small for the three of them to play together.
A lot of thought was put into the design:
1) All the realistic fixtures in the dishwasher (racks for plates etc, container for cutlery and "knobs" for cups etc to hang on)
2) The sink is a decent, functional size and depth (approz 7.5 cm deep), a detail we thought was important, it wasn't there just so it could be listed as a product feature.
3) All of the external screws (on front of doors etc) were powdercoated to match the colour of the surface they would be on e.g blue fridge had blue powdercoated screws, and nearly every screw or bolt is flush.
4) The kitchen is very sturdy, and precision manufactured - while it does take a long time (1.5 hours) to put together, the instructions are simple and clear - there was no confusion during the assembly.
5) The materials used (bolts, screws etc) are solid and good quality, with the heads powder coated as metioned previously.
I could go on for hours with my praise for this kitchen. It is durable and sturdy enough that it will definitely be staying in our family for years, maybe even pass it on to our grandkids. It is so much fun to play with. My wife (who is a teacher) loves the fact that it doesn't make any noises, but the children have to use their imagination. Every area of the kitchen is generously sized. One thing that could be better is if the fridge had one more shelf: it seems like there is a bit of wasted space in there, especially with the small size of pretend food.
If you can afford the investment, it is well and truly worth every cent. When we compare the price and quality to the first kitchen we bought, this kitchen is far, far superior value. Check out the other reviews of Kidkraft kitchens on the 'net to see what other customers are saying.

My Sweet Kitchen Review

My Sweet Kitchen
Average Reviews:

This beautiful My Sweet Kitchen arrived exactly on my granddaughter's birthday! Her grandfather and I had all the tools that were need to assemble in the box outside of a phillips screwdriver. The instructions were easy to read and has pictures of the assembly instructions! Our granddaughter was so happy and surprised when we finished putting it together. We thought we would have time, but be prepared to assemble it with plenty of time if you're trying to surprise the birthday person. Not difficult, just time consuming when you're amateurs. Overall, we were very pleased with the shipping time (within the time frame), packaging, instructions, product and many smiles with a lifetime of memories....8-)

Iplay Home?Sizzlin? Stove Review

I was looking for a kitchen set because my son was having so much fun watching me cook. I really didn't want to invest $150 in a large set that he may not play with so I gave this a try. It was a HUGE hit. He would mix stuff up, turn on the sounds and come give us "tastes". Every kid that has been over to our house gravitates toward this and our nephew couldn't get enough of it at Easter. I also like that it can be put away when not being used. I do wish that some of the pieces were attached like the hooks for the utensils and the feet. I also wish the arch were more secure when attached because once my son figured out he could take it apart that is all he was interested in doing (course we had to keep putting it back together for him)

These unique pretend play products allow children the opportunity to express their feelings, use their imaginations and learn about the world around them. And most importantly - they'll have fun while they do it. The Sizzling' Stove is a great little pretend stove. Food sizzles on the grill, simmers in the pan, and pot bubbles on the stove. Burners can be turned on and off. Lights up and makes sounds. Accessories include 4 cooking utensils, salt and pepper shakers, 4 utensil hooks, spaghetti pot with strainer lid, frying pan, fish, shrimp kabob and steak. Ages 3+.

Fisher-Price Elmo's Restaurant Review

Fisher-Price Elmo's Restaurant
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This was given as a gift for my little girls' two year birthday. She absolutely loves Sesame Street but is not at all interested in this set up. It is not very large, the sounds are limited and loop quickly, the Grouch door falls off easily, and it is overwhelmingly tacky. The Speaker on the cash register does not work and the storage space is very limited. I suppose it is as good as any other kitchen set, although for the price, I'm sure you could find better. I do not mean to be negative about this product, just informative.

Look what's cookin' in Elmo's Restaurant -- an entire world of pretend-play possibilities! This two-sided restaurant comes with a working microphone, cash register and play money. Little chefs can turn the chunky Bert and Ernie knobs to hear fun phrases that will make them giggle. Place the pot on the burner to hear realistic bubbling sounds and hear sizzling sounds with the pan. Press on the cutting board to hear chopping sounds, and press the bell for a delightful "ding!" Elmo talks when you take the spatula out of this hand. When the cooking is complete, turn to the kitchen's Grover side for dining fun. Take the menu out of Grover's hand to hear him speak, and open/close the refrigerator door for Oscar phrases. All play pieces fit neatly inside the unit's built-in storage spaces. Requires three "AA" batteries, included. Kitchen measures 22"L x 26.3"W x 38"H.

This is the cutest little kitchen but, it becomes frustrating for my daughter because the oven door falls off ALL the [...] and the table also falls off. I bought it because of the Fisher Price name but, I'm a little disappointed.
