Imaginext Adventures Dragon Review

(More customer reviews)I got this for my 2 year old son. My oldest boy loves knights and dragons, but my 2 yr old cannot really play with some of his toys. I love Imaginext because there are no real small parts and it creates durable, reasonably priced toys that get their imaginations going. This dragon has a button that allows your child to make it flap it's wings and another to make it "chomp" and it can move its arms legs and tail. All three of my kids loved playing with it (even my 4 yr old daughter). Most of all my 2 year old can play with my oldest together with these and seeing them all playing together makes me very happy.

Fisher-Price Trio Wizard's Knights Review

(More customer reviews)Trios are a perfect cross between legos and tinker toys. They easily construct to build large structures that are substantial enough for little hands to manipulate and play with. Our 6 year old can follow the directions himself, but also loves coming up with his own ideas on versions of the play sets. Our 3 year old needs a little help, but once it's put together, he plays and plays with it. The 3 year old has other basic Trio sets and has a lot of fun being creative with them. Best investment ever. I highly recommend the Wizard's knights in addition to the play sets so that more children can play together.

(More customer reviews)These were so popular in a group of five cousins, ages 2 to 5, that they caused squabbles over who got to use them, while most of the rest of the many new presents sat neglected! They are well made, seem quite durable, and a are nice change of pace from the usual plain wooden blocks. I generally subscribe to the argument that plainer toys encourage more imaginative play, but a little color is nice to add sometimes, and they encourage more imagination, I would say, than a Playmobil or Lego castle set, where the pieces are more detailed and therefore leave less to the imagination. A variety of toys could play within a castle built from this set - dollhouse dolls, Lego or Duplo or Playmobil people, etc. Recommended by this mom of 3!

Fisher-Price Imaginext Dragon World Fortress Review

(More customer reviews)My husband picked this out for my son's 4th birthday and he absolutely loves it! The lights flash and the dragon comes down when you pull a lever and will actually pick up a man in his mouth. The front door to the castle resembles a garage door and my son really likes that! It took us a few days to figure out that the boulders actually swirl down the slide which is also part of the dragon's tale. Also, there is a little button like thing at the top of the slide that makes a noise and sends the boulder down the slide. This thing is just so nice. I only wish that the rooms were a little deaper...they are a bit shallow, but the men are pretty small, so it's no big deal. Almost all of the Imaginext toys are built so well, so I really recommend them to anyone with younger children. They even have some for girls now=) They aren't called Imaginext, but they are the exact same type of people and they are also Fisher Price Brand. We own the large Pirate Ship, another Castle, Coast Guard Boat, Space Ship, Space Station, Bat Cave, FireStation, Ambulance, and many other little Imaginext items and we can't wait until they come out with even more...

Schleich Knight's Castle Review

(More customer reviews)This castle is amazing in detail and quality. The working drawbridge is weighted and has metal details. Each tower has two floors above the ground floor, so soldiers can stage battles from higher angles. The castle comes with two towers, main entrance with drawbridge, four long walls, and two short walls. The pieces may be moved around and rearranged in whatever configurations you wish.
This is a heavy castle, with all the pieces collectively weighing in at approximately 20 lbs. It is also a BIG castle, with towers reaching almost 18" height. While it seems incredibly sturdy, I would recommend children be at least 5 years old before receiving such a gift; they need to be at least strong enough to lift the towers, and coordinated enough to avoid knocking it over onto themselves. Even then, I'd guess it is best suited for children 7-13, and I hope it will be treasured by my son throughout his childhood, and passed on to his children some day.
There are other websites that sell Schleich World of Knights, and have a more comprehensive collection than what is shown here (not to mention better prices if you farm around). Some additional pieces not shown on Amazon include: stone steps and ladders, which let soldiers reach the ledges behind the walls of the castle and the 2nd and 3rd floors of the towers; additional short walls, long walls, and towers; catapult; war tent; an Arabian Knights collection; a Crusaders collection; and additional mythical characters such as a fairy, elf, pegasus, and phoenix. Beware the female characters: they have homely, masculine faces, and sort of look like drag queens.
Most of the figures themselves are a single molded piece, and are beautifully detailed with things like the quilted underside of the blankets on the princes' horses, silver painted horseshoes, dirt on the faces of the soldiers, an occasional bloodied knuckle, etc. A few soldiers have long-handled weapons which are removable, as are the jousting sticks used by the tournament knights. Also, the mounted figures are removable from their horses, though their legs remain bowed.
The castle arrives in a sturdy cardboard box with a built-in carrying handle, and is attractive enough that gift wrapping isn't necessary. This is a decidedly masculine toy; a boys' equivalent to a high-end doll house for girls. It is also a toy to be added to over time -- with all the accessories, this toy will stay exciting and provide new adventures for years to come.
UPDATE (Oct '08): It's been over 3 years since my son got his castle. It still looks perfect, and he still loves to stage battles with his knights.

Little Tikes Bounce House Trampoline Review

(More customer reviews)The bounce house is a fun toy, my 3-year-old daughter and her friends all love it.
However, it has two big drawbacks. First, the minute kids get in it, the first thing they want to do is tip it over. It tips easily and the kids think this is great fun, until they hit their heads on the floor. Tipping over the house also leads to problem number two: The bounce house is not very durable. Ours started springing leaks after about a month. It now has 3 holes, one in each air chamber. The holes are difficult to patch as they are on the seams and in the corners where the toy is often stretched in different directions (especially when tipped!)This stretching tends to peel off the patches.
Also, the patch kit that comes with the bounce house is a joke, it does not work at all! I bought one used for repairing inflatable boats which worked a little better, except as indicated above.
All in all, I can't recommend buying this until Little Tykes devises a way to keep the thing from tipping over so easily.
By the way, in the ads for this, you see two kids happily bouncing. On the warning label it says only one child at a time. What fun is that?
The warning label also says-- and I swear I am not making this up -- "Do not jump on this toy as it may cause irreparable damage." Kind of defeats the whole purpose , doesn't it?

(More customer reviews)I find the Pockets of Learning toys to be fun, educational, andwonderful to tote around. I found no problem with the fact that there were no instructions. Even my two year old daughter understood it as soon as she looked at it! After all, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that you open the castle up and use the pieces to play inside and outside of it! This is not some sophisticated electronic toy with small parts to build, people. It's a cloth castle, already put together for you. Anyway, in summary, it's an adorable toy and lots of fun.
