(More customer reviews)I got this set along with two other Diego Mega Brands sets for my 5 year old for Christmas. All the sets can be used together, and really gives my kids some extra pieces to pretend with. Both my older son and his 2-year-old brother have lots of fun building different animal adventure scenes.
We also got a pack of cheapy, plastic toy wild animals to go along with this...you can find those just about anywhere for just a dollar or two. And with all of the extra animals we added, they really enjoy themselves (...and no fighting over the only jaguar that comes with this set!!!)
Well-made, sturdy toy set that will likely be around for a while.

(More customer reviews)Just an FYI to other parents purchasing this as a gift... every single thing we have ever ordered from Amazon (which is 50+ items/year) ALWAYS comes in a standard brown cardboard box... EXCEPT this Calico Critters Cloverleaf Manor. As such, my daughter saw the UPS man walking up the driveway with the box proudly displaying what was inside. So sad as this was supposed to be a "Santa gift"! I have no complaints otherwise, I just wanted to let other parents know to possibly have it delivered to a neighbor's house if you plan for it to be a surprise!

12 Vinyl Dinosaur Characters Review

(More customer reviews)I bought these as a favor for a two year old's birthday party. They are a great squishy, cartoonish, rubber ducky-like toy. The picture represents really well the style and quality of what you will get, and shows each style dinosaur. Three of each style come in the package. The only downside to these dino's is their size. The size is accurate in the description but when you see it in person you quickly realize how a willful 2 year old could probably shove the whole thing in their mouth and choke on it. It even says on the bag they come in, "Not intended for children under 3 years". Considering the product is a rubber cartoon dino, I feel it's marketed at the under 3 set and could have been made just a touch bigger to eliminate any question of a choking hazard. The size I really feel is boderline, so some parents may think they are fine and some won't and it probably depends just as much on the individual child. It's just a shame there has to be a question on this otherwise adorable little toy.

Animal Planet Soft Dinosaur Playset - 10 Piece Set Review

(More customer reviews)Our son received this set as a birthday gift for his 3rd birthday. He and his 5 yr old sister love playing with it and it is one of the most played with toys in the house. The pieces are sturdy with the exception of the tree. Within the first two days, all of the branches had snapped off due to their flimsy attachment. The only thing holding them on are very thin metal rods which snap if accidentally stepped on or if the child bends them at all. Neither of our kids are necessarily rough with their toys. The tree branches just snapped off during regular play. All in all, not a huge deal but irritating. The kids still love to play with it and it is by far one of their most favorite toys.

(More customer reviews)These toys are so great in theory. The level of detail seems so fantastic...from the faces to the accessories. BUT, the quality is terrible. My 3 year old has toys from both Mighty World and Playmobil and they can't even compete when it comes to durability and function. The hats don't stay on the figures' heads, pieces break off regularly, and the items just don't have the same range of motion that the Playmobil items do. I don't recommend these toys.

(More customer reviews)We received this game as a gift and discovered that this version of Memory is different from the original in one very important and disappointing way. While there are as many cards as the original version, the vast majority of the cards look the same: pink, purple, and pale blue ponies with slight variations in the colors of the manes. There are a few other objects, such as ladybugs, flowers, and butterflies, but there are also near-duplicates of each of those. For example, there is one ladybug pair with a bit of pink gingham background, and then another pair with the same ladybug and a pale green gingham background. Overall, the amount of similarity between the cards makes this an extremely difficult and tiresome game for all but the most devoted (and knowledgable) fans of My Little Pony. This version tips the balance between game and marketing gimmick, and the game loses out to an advertising ploy directed at toddlers and preschoolers. I'd highly recommend the original version instead.

Playmobil 1.2.3 Playground Review

(More customer reviews)I got this for my 23-month-old twins along with some other Playmobil 123 sets, and they play with them every day.
From a parent's perspective, the three figures are the best part of this set. My kids carry them around everywhere, and they offer lots of opportunities for imaginative play. The three figures have eaten all kinds of "food," ridden toy horses with Play-Doh "saddles" holding them on... oh, and also slid down the slide & rocked on the dino!
I think my twins might say they liked the flower best, surprisingly. They love snapping the top of the flower on & off the stem, and then snapping the stem onto the "grass" base. They also snap the bench on & off the grass base.
The first thing they learned when they got the set was how to make the figures bend at the waist to sit on the bench. It took some coaching to help them understand how to let go of the figures at the top of the slide so they'll slide down. Once they understood, they had fun with that for a while. They can't snap the figures onto the dino rocker by themselves yet, but that will come. Once the figures are on the rocker, they like to spin the dino around and make it rock. They also like to "feed" the dino.
I definitely recommend this for anyone with kids who are a little too young for regular Playmobil. I'm glad we have a couple of other Playmobil 123 sets, though, for more opportunities for interaction & imaginative play.

Mega Bloks Dora's Buildable Playground Adventures Review

(More customer reviews)I got this set for my daughter because she loves to build things and she loves Dora. I had great hopes that she would really enjoy this set. She loved the babies and she loved trying to build the playground, until she could not keep the pieces together. I stepped in to help, and I too had problems trying to keep the blocks together and secure. The square play area that is central to the "playground" kept coming apart. And there aren't all that many pieces to the set, so it has limited options as to how you can construct the playground. After a short while, she became frustrated and bored with the set and has not played with the set since then. She is 3-1/2 years old and is able to put together train sets, Lego's and Lincoln Logs, so it is not for her lack of being able to master the building part of the sets. It's like she is a junior engineer in training. It's just the pieces are not tight fitting and lead to the designs falling apart.
The idea behind the playground is fantastic, because what child doesn't love to be at a playground? But the pieces do not lock together very well, which can lead to a lot of frustration for a child, and they are definitely not as well made as Lego. There are other pieces like the ladder that look like they should attach to something (from looking at the pictures on the box), yet we could not figure out what they attached to, or HOW they attached to something. They did not fit into any of the holes on other pieces.
On the plus side, the slide is very cute, and if you can get it to stay anchored, it is fun to have the babies and Dora slide down it, and the swing is also fun to put the babies in to push them on it. The set does allow your child to be imaginative as they map out play at the park, but if the park does not stay together, it may be a disappointment. We had considered getting the Diego set when we got the Dora set, but decided against it at the time. I will not be getting the Diego set now that I see the blocks don't secure very well, and I am returning the unopened "Cars" sets as well. I am going to go back to Lego, and hope that they come out with Dora or Diego sometime in the future.

Calico Critters Baby Amusement Park Review

Maybe she bought one that is not "Authentic". We buy most of our Calico Criters from BAMCO on Amazon, they are an approved calico critters dealler... so I know I buy the "real one"...
Anyways, it fits all of our calico critters dolls. My 5 year old loves playing with it!!! We got it for her birthday :)

Fisher-Price Imaginext Dragon World Fortress Review

(More customer reviews)My husband picked this out for my son's 4th birthday and he absolutely loves it! The lights flash and the dragon comes down when you pull a lever and will actually pick up a man in his mouth. The front door to the castle resembles a garage door and my son really likes that! It took us a few days to figure out that the boulders actually swirl down the slide which is also part of the dragon's tale. Also, there is a little button like thing at the top of the slide that makes a noise and sends the boulder down the slide. This thing is just so nice. I only wish that the rooms were a little deaper...they are a bit shallow, but the men are pretty small, so it's no big deal. Almost all of the Imaginext toys are built so well, so I really recommend them to anyone with younger children. They even have some for girls now=) They aren't called Imaginext, but they are the exact same type of people and they are also Fisher Price Brand. We own the large Pirate Ship, another Castle, Coast Guard Boat, Space Ship, Space Station, Bat Cave, FireStation, Ambulance, and many other little Imaginext items and we can't wait until they come out with even more...

Mega Bloks Ni Hao Kai-Lan's Buildable Bedroom Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter's been getting more into building things and pretending lately, and when I saw Kai-Lan's Buildable Bedroom for an incredibly low price on clearance, it was an obvious buy. For parents who are worried about their kids eating the smaller Lego pieces, or just plain losing them because of their size, this is a good option. And of course, if they like Kai-Lan too, it's even better.
What you see on the box is exactly what you're getting- there aren't any extra pieces included, which is kind of a downer, but because you can put the bedroom together in different ways, it's sure to extend the toy's life a bit. You get pieces to make the actual room, part of the roof, and a little outdoor area with a fence/gate. And of course you get Tolee, Kai-Lan and Hoho. These characters are a good size and look great for being 'just' kid's toys. They have a hole in their feet so they can fit onto the other pieces, and you can move their heads as well. Their heads are on tight, so there's very little chance of them popping off and being a choking hazard.
There aren't any stickers to put on the bedroom walls or anything- they're already on their respective pieces. Basically, you just get the blocks and figures. Everything's colorful and cute, and my daughter loved putting things together with me, and making super flowers (flowers stacked on top of eachother to make one big one). If you have the other Kai-Lan building sets, this is an excellent addition.
Good construction, learning potential, great quality on the figures, and it's Legos for kids. This would be a great present for any fan of Kai-Lan. Now why can't the Backyardigans or Wubbzy get toys like this?

Little Tikes Keyheads City Fire Station Review

(More customer reviews)Sweet baby Jesus, this toy SUCKS. Get ready for an hour of tedious assembly, followed by about 45 seconds of confused play, and then the ramp will just fall off. I should have been put off by the whole idiotic concept of "Keyhead City"--because what child doesn't want to play with severed fireman heads? They aren't even really keys that you can turn...they just sort of rest loosely in their slots...until you press them, which activates the ear-splitting siren...which you can use to clear traffic on the way to the Emergency Room, after you put your eye out with the sharp, pointy "water bomb" projectiles. And it's so poorly designed! Where are you supposed to sit exactly when you're using the elevator or the catapult? It makes you feel like a left-handed person using right handed scissors. Thank you, Little Tykes, for ruining Christmas.
