Melissa & Doug Multi-Level Solid Wood Dollhouse w/ Family of 5 Dolls Review

I got this dollhouse for my 2 year old daughter and she loves it. It is relatively easy to assemble and is made of sturdy, solid wood. It actually comes with some furniture and the family of 5 dolls - which my daughter and my 3-year old son both play with - for some reason they really like the baby. We also got a few of the other Melissa & Doug furniture sets to go with the house... it's a very attractive dollhouse overall and provides plenty of entertainment and pretend play for kids.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Chomp and Clack Alligator Push Toy Review

Melissa and Doug Deluxe Wooden Chomp and Clack Alligator Push Toy

My 9 month old daughter LOVES this toy. She is so amazed to be mobile. Right now, she can only manage to push it in a straight line. It seems hard to maneuver for beginning walkers. Luckily, we have an open floor plan so she can go right from the living room through the kitchen into the dining room before she has to stop and turn around. I can see her using this for awhile though... putting dollies on it and pushing them around. She wants to play with it every day and gets upset when she can't.
So far we have had no problems. I read reviews that complained that the handle bar comes unglued. The version I received has a screw holding the handle bar in place. We've had it for a month and no defects have come about.

Melissa & Doug On the Farm Jigsaw (12 pc) Review

Melissa and Doug On the Farm Jigsaw (12 pc)

Let me preface this with how much I like Melissa and Doug products overall. My grandchildren have many M&D toys and this is the first that hasn't been great. It's a cute puzzle, and my grandchildren loved the animals on it, but I've never seen a puzzle where the pieces were so hard to get apart. Within the first 15 minutes of two little girls playing with the puzzle, many of the edges frayed just from trying to get the pieces apart. You might say, "They picked at the paper edges," but no, I was sitting with them and that was not the case. After two days of play, almost all the paper edges were frayed to some degree. This one will soon have to go in the trash. It's not worth my time and effort to return it.

Maxim Design by You Doll House with Furniture Review

Maxim Design by You Doll House with Furniture

Okay, as a parent I began researching dollhouses about 2 months before Christmas for my 3 year old. I was looking for a product that would hold up to abuse and creative play. I wanted a doll house that my daughter could really interact with and chose this one after a lot of looking around. My husband and I opened it up to put together on Christmas Eve and realized it was an even better product than we'd hoped. Here's why:
1. damage proof packaging
2. easy to assemble with a power driver and a philips head screw driver, although it would be harder to do without the power driver, to be honest
3. she played with it for hours
4. everything about it is well-made and sturdy, even the fully poseable dolls (although they look suspiciously like a couple of Art Majors) and chunky wooden furniture
5. you can make two houses if you want, love the modular rooms
6. no character or commercial slogans! My husband and I are tired of the over-commercialization. This product doesn't even carry a logo by the maker. I like that a lot.
Ther are no downsides to this dollhouse that I can see. The little fridge even opens.
