(More customer reviews)I recently purchased this toy for my grandson who is 21/2 yrs old. I was very disappointed with it's size. It is really too small for him to ride. The wheels don't turn and my grandson was disappointed that it didn't have a horn. He was here when it arrived and was thrilled to have a "John Deere" so I didn't return it. Hopefully I'll have other grandchildren who will get some use out of it.

Fridge Words Magnetic Word Builder Review

(More customer reviews)I was delighted to find out the magnets from the Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter set also work with this! So if you have both, you can spell out double lettered words (such as "dad" and "mom" (and it is programmed to read those words, as well!)
The only problems we've been having with it are related to the tinny sound. The Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter set sounded nice, but the Word Whammer sound quality is poorer. I know I had a hard time telling "Find the 'F'" from "Find the 'S'". Lucky for us adults, if we know what word it wants us to spell, we know which letter, but it confounds the kids.
If it weren't for the sound quality the toy would be *perfect*. It is really well designed, and very effective at keeping the kid's interest long enough for them not to realize they're learning while they're having fun. If you don't mind needing to translate what the machine said every so often, I highly recommend this.

The prices given here are an incredible deal for such cute, well made toys! The food fits in the tray, kind of like a puzzle, which is a really fun feature. And all the food included is SO CUTE! It's wooden which makes it cuter and more durable than a lot of those plastic food sets. I love the little cups of orange juice and milk...and the bowls of cereal (looks like Fruit Loops) and soup! The sets are so cute and have an old fashioned charm to them. I can't emphasize enough how much my kids (ages 2, 4, and 7) and I love playing with these!!! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with these, especially at these prices! Thank you, Melissa and Doug, for such a cute, fun, well made product!!!

(More customer reviews)We first bought this toy as a birthday gift, because our 4 year old was so fascinated with pushing the buttons to open the cash drawer. He liked the play coins that came with it, too.
Over the last 5 years, it has suited his needs as he's grown. First it was a play-alone toy, fun for long stretches of time. Later, it evolved into part of a grocery store game played with friends. Over the last two years, it has been an educational tool for us to use, as he learns to add and subtract and make change, something he is also doing at school.
It comes with a credit card - we haven't had to use it yet (not as much educational value for a credit card in this set up, since you can't really explain the perils of interest rates)!
When friends come over, it is still a popular toy to pull out and play with. You can replace the coins (which seem to disappear) with less realistic, but inexpensive, coins you can find at any dollar store - or use real money!
An excellent toy that will grow with the child!
