(More customer reviews)My 3 1/2 year old daughter got this from Santa for Christmas, along with a few other Melissa & Doug sets. We are big fans of this toy company, so far all the sets we have purchased have been durable and well made, my daughter loved her alphabet puzzle with sound from last year, it still works great and looks brand new.
We got around to opening this set today, and she was all excited, and started to spell out several boards at once...then I discovered the problem, there were no letter "e" in the box, or "a"...only one each of the "d" and "o" letters. So being a long time purchaser of their products, called the number listed on the sticker on the back, and immediately was connected with a LIVE human being, no computer nonsense telling me to press 1 then press 2...that alone was amazing, lol...and the woman I spoke with took all the info quickly, and then without any hesitation told me a new set would be out to my daughter today...no asking me to return the defective set, she was quick, efficent, and very pleasant. This one problem with the set would not have turned me off to their toys, but with such quality customer service I am an even bigger fan than ever of this toy company...

(More customer reviews)I bought this to use on my regular Leapster and it worked just fine. My 4 year old son is learning to write letters in his Pre-K class and this just excited him beyond belief. He sits there for hours tracing those letters and he is so proud of himself when he is done!!! I am amazed because my son usually NEVER sits still unless he's watching TV. This has replaced our watch TV before you go to bed time...now he gets in bed and draws his letters.
The most important thing about this is it teaches them to draw their letters CORRRECTLY. Start at the top and go down...etc. All educational experts Iv'e talked with say that it is essential to get then doing it right. PLUS, unlike the letter factory (which I loved) it also teaches lowercase letters which I have come to find out that those are what they need in Pre-K and K.
Thank you Leapfrog for encouraging my son to enthusiastically learn and challenge himself.

(More customer reviews)This is a fun game with upper case letter, shapes, colors, and number to 9, You draw a card fromt he kangaroo's stomach, if you card has a square on it you hop to something that is a square, if it has a number, you hop that number of times, if it has a letter you can either just say what the letter is, or say a word that starts with the letter. You keep the cards that you get right and when someone draws a stop card, the game stops and you count your cards.
I left the kids keep all of their cards and we just played it as an educational activity.
This game would be frustrating for a child that doesn't know any of the letters or numbers, possibly you could take out peices and only put in peices that they are familiar with and just add a couple new letters or numbers that they are working on learning.
The concept of hoping to items is nice, My 3 and 4 year olds really are enjoying the game.

Daughter loves this character for some reason and it's a decent accompaniment to the PBS TV show. Well-made, plenty sturdy. No sharp edges from the molding process. Good quality colors and snug fitting parts...goes together just like it does in the show, O-W-L, without the sound effects.

Fridge Words Magnetic Word Builder Review

(More customer reviews)I was delighted to find out the magnets from the Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter set also work with this! So if you have both, you can spell out double lettered words (such as "dad" and "mom" (and it is programmed to read those words, as well!)
The only problems we've been having with it are related to the tinny sound. The Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter set sounded nice, but the Word Whammer sound quality is poorer. I know I had a hard time telling "Find the 'F'" from "Find the 'S'". Lucky for us adults, if we know what word it wants us to spell, we know which letter, but it confounds the kids.
If it weren't for the sound quality the toy would be *perfect*. It is really well designed, and very effective at keeping the kid's interest long enough for them not to realize they're learning while they're having fun. If you don't mind needing to translate what the machine said every so often, I highly recommend this.

Jumbo Uppercase Magnetic Letters, Set of 40 Review

(More customer reviews)We bought these letters for our daughter, and although she does have a lot of fun playing with them, and I love using them to review letters, half of them do not stick to our refrigerator! (We live in an apartment, so it is not the newest refrigerator, but all of our other magnets stick to it very well.) They are a great size, very colorful, and fun to play with, but I can't recommend something with magnetic in the name, when you try to put them on the refrigerator, and half of them slide down and on to the floor. They were not that expensive, and my daughter spends a lot of time playing with them (on the floor), so I guess they were worth the money, but I would not buy another set, and I would certainly not buy a set as a gift.

(More customer reviews)This is one of the greatest toys I've ever seen. The letters are made of wood and the front is painted with a smooth, bright, shiny enamel. The best part is that the entire back of the letter is magnetic, not just a little piece like those cheap plastic magnetic letters. These will not fall off and they are plenty strong enough to hold artwork up on the fridge. The come in a durable wooden box with a clear plastic top that slides on and off. They are much bigger than the plastic alphabet magnets so they are easier for little kids to handle without choking. There are both upper and lowercase so there are plenty of letters to make words. My daughter loves playing with them on the fridge and dishwasher. We even gave a set to her 1 year old cousin as a birthday present. I would recommend them to anyone. Believe me, they are well worth the price and your kids will be able to hand them down to their children.
