iPlay Cool Tools Activity Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my son who is almost two and a half because he has a big interest in tools. I chose this one over some of the more realistic sets because he has a baby brother on the way and I didn't want to get him something with too many choking hazards. I also liked that this has screws and bolts so he can practice actually using the tools.
Pros-
-cute talking shape sorter
-screw driver, hammer, and wrench can actually be used with the accompanying bolts, screws, and nails
-cute carrying case to contain all parts
Cons-
- TOO LOUD! This toy does not have a volume control and when the child turns the gears it plays children's songs at a high volume.
- no on/off switch. It would be nice to be able to turn the sound feature off, so the child could just practice the mechanic aspects of the toy.
- Toy does not come with the molded plastic insert shown in the picture. My child can rarely get all of the tools to fit inside by himself.
- The drill makes realistic drill sounds, but the bit does not turn. How hard would it have been to make that happen?
My child is enjoying this toy, but it is still fairly new. If I had had a chance to try it out before buying, I think I would have picked something else.

The Cool Tools Box opens to become a fun-filled activity station. Kids can sort the colorful shapes, or use the tools to "build" anything they can imagine. The power drill makes realistic drilling sounds. Use the hammer to put in a few nails, or rotate the spinning and meshing gears. Requires 2 "AA" alkaline batteries (included).

Constructables Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 2 year old son and while he is not able to put it together with ease, he has no problem figuring out how to turn on and off the constructs and enjoys attempting to fit the pieces together.
My 5 year old enjoys making things as well, but doesn't stick with the toy for more than 10 min.

River Rescue Small Theme Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)These toys are so great in theory. The level of detail seems so fantastic...from the faces to the accessories. BUT, the quality is terrible. My 3 year old has toys from both Mighty World and Playmobil and they can't even compete when it comes to durability and function. The hats don't stay on the figures' heads, pieces break off regularly, and the items just don't have the same range of motion that the Playmobil items do. I don't recommend these toys.

Tomy Water Symphony Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)As the other reviewers have pointed out, the dolphins don't link together well or play music reliably. You might get a pathetic little peep out of each dolphin and that's about it. The other negative about this toy is that it takes up a LOT of space. We have a large 6 ft tub, and these creatures completely fill the tub ledge. The idea behind the toy is cute, but I think it just wasn't achievable with the design/engineering chosen.

Make beautiful music in the tub. Give each dolphin a tap on the head to hear a different note in a 8-note scale. Hook the inner tubes together or let the dolphins float freely. This dolphin group plays as many meiodies as a child can compose.

International Playthings Light and Sound Ambulance Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)In concept, this is a very cute toy, although there are way too many parts for a small child to figure out or really play with. I had two major problems with this toy, and it was a deal breaker so I sent it back to the seller.
Number one: The back doors are mounted on very flimsy hinges that don't really "hang" the doors. They just sort of snap on, loosely. So anytime my son would open the back doors (which is the main thing we would do) the doors would just fall off into his hands. This would send him screaming or crying to me in frustration to put the doors back on. One morning, I had to resnap those doors into place upwards of 20 times in as many minutes. We were both pretty fed up after that, so the ambulance was "unplayble" as far as my son was concerned.
Number two: The wheels don't move very easily. They do "go" when the toy is pushed, but it feels like the brakes are on, relative to other cars and trucks my son has that move across the floor very easily. But that wasn't the deal breaker ... the back doors constantly falling off was.
I think this is a very cute toy in concept, and should have tons of potential. But instead of worrying about so many little parts, I wish the manufacturer had spent a some more time making sure the toy was a tad more durable. My son is not rough at all with toys, but this one was ridiculously fragile.
I cannot recommend this toy.

International Playthings Fire Brigade Medium Theme Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My son LOVES firemen and got this for his 3rd birthday. He noticed that the picture on the box included a shovel. We asked the company we got it from, who were very nice and looked in several other boxes but couldn't help. They suggested contacting the manufacturer and the manufacturer said it was a mistake that had since been corrected and that they would send a shovel at no additional cost. A few weeks later a package arrived with firemen, cones, ax, and the shovel. We were very impressed with their customer service and will happily purchase other toys from them again.
The toy itself has a lot of detail and many realistic things to manipulate for little hands. Although there are small pieces so should not be given to little ones that put things in their mouth.
