Mega Set Pirate Ship Playset With Island and Poseable Action Figures Review

Mega Set Pirate Ship Playset With Island and Poseable Action Figures

This was my sons favorite Christmas Present this year. He is 4 and loves pirates. This really gets played with every single day. He has his army men lined up and fighting against the pirates for the island. The only bad thing that I can say about it is the "rocks" don't want to stay on the island and I had to get some superglue to make them stay. Other than that it is an awesome toy and my son loves it so that is all that matters.

Tomy Pop-Up Pirate Game Review

Tomy Pop-Up Pirate Game

I'm a speech/language therapist, working with pre-schoolers age 3-5. They love this game! The anticipation of the pirate popping holds their interest (long enough to do their therapy) and they don't have to wait long for another turn. I wasn't thrilled about taking a toy with swords to school, but have only had to tell them once that "we don't fight with them, they're for the game." It has been frequently used, not treated too gently, but it is still in excellent working condition. I do not use the blue base included with the game, it seems unnecessary and only seems to make the game easier to tip over. The kids don't think they lose when the pirate pops, they think they won! Sometimes he jumps out on the first sword stuck in the barrel, other times it might be the last one! (I have no idea how this happens!) This is a very good beginner game, for learning turn-taking, although it is not particularly educational.

Its a barrel of fun for the whole family! Push the pirate into his barrel, select your favourite color swords, then take turns sliding a sword into the barrel slots. But beware - if the pirate pops up you're OUT! The last remaining player is the winner. No batteries required.

Fisher-Price Backyardigans Pirate Tub Time Adventure Review

Fisher-Price Backyardigans Pirate Tub Time Adventure

My kids (2 & 5) are big fans of the Backyardigans, especially the Pirate adventure episode. (Confession time: Mom & Dad are rather fond of that episode too. "Argh!")
They really enjoy the Pirate Tub Time Adventure playset. It's quite a tub-worthy vessel. The only problems are (1) the mast does not snap firmly into the base, so it's always falling off and (2) only Captain Uniqua and Captain Pablo are included. The wee maties missed Captains Tyrone and Austin.

Pirates Cove Game Review

Pirates Cove Game
Average Reviews:

This is a really easy game that really only requires counting and color matching ability. The board is designed to look like a treasure map with 12 cardboard "keys" sticking up around the board. The game pieces are Pirates. Each player spins the spinner and moves his pirate the designated number of spaces along the dotted pirate map trail. You can move in any direction.
There are basically 3 types of squares to land on. Landing on the Gold Coin Square allows you to take a gold coin from the treasure chest. The Jolly Roger Square lets you steal a coin from another player. The Treasure Key square lets you take a key card and try to match it to one of the keys inserted into the game board. If you match the colors on your key to the colors on your key card, you can gain additional coins. The first player to accumulate 6 coins wins the game.
So, while game play is fairly simple, the set up instructions were fairly complex. First they have you fold up all these extra cardboard pieces. Then you turn over the game board and attach the cardboard pieces to the bottom of the game board. Next you turn over the inside cover of the box, and lay the box cover on top of the cardboard pieces. Then flip the whole thing over. Basically, all of this is done just to prop up the game board so that the keys can hang down through the slots on the board. And after all that, the keys don't really fit into the holes and they keep falling through.
Here is what we did to modify the instructions. We threw away all the cardboard junk. We got a little velvet baggy (like the kind you can get from some jewelry stores - with a draw string to close). We put the keys into the velvet baggy. Then when you land on the key square, you pick a card from the deck and a key from the bag. Now, our game board sits flat on the table and we have eliminated mess and frustration. Plus the little bag looks like a Pirate Treasure bag and makes the game feel a little more authentic.
I will say that my 4 year old (who is obsessed with Pirates) LOVES to play this game. The squares have pirate phrases that you are supposed to say when you land on a square. My son loves to land on the Jolly Roger square and yell out "Arrrgh, I'll be stealing yer treasure!". We've played this game non stop for the last several days. Overall, I rate this game 3 stars because of mess they made with game instructions and set up. It is a fun family game, but cheaply constructed.

LEGO Star Wars Pirate Tank Review

LEGO Star Wars Pirate Tank

This Lego set is really easy to build and it is a great tank when it's done. It only took me 45 minutes to put it together even though there are 372 pieces. I got it at the Lego store, it was a special edition and it was a good deal.
The gun turret moves and there are awesome brand new Lego mini-figures. There are hidden missiles and the front & back wings move (and the back turret moves!). There is a hidden capsule for one man and great spots for the other man. My favorite mini-figure is Turk Falso. The tank looks like it would be really fast after it's put together.
If you like Lego tanks you will love this set!!! I recommend this Lego set, and I think it's the best set I have built yet! Connor
