(More customer reviews)We recently gave this to a friend's little boy for his 2nd birthday - he and all the other boys at the party played with it constantly! It says ages 3+ on the package, but the only small parts are the wheels, which seem well-attached. My 3 year old son liked the toy too, but the 2 year old boys spent far more time playing with it. The top rack slides down so the cars can all drive off the car carrier. I was impressed at how well-made the toy is and I came on today to buy another one to put away as a Christmas gift for my 1.5 year old.

He has his army men lined up and fighting against the pirates for the island. The only bad thing that I can say about it is the "rocks" don't want to stay on the island and I had to get some superglue to make them stay. Other than that it is an awesome toy and my son loves it so that is all that matters.

He has very few toys that he likes as much as his matchbox cars, but even the matchbox cars run around and around the track, which makes him giggle! It seems sturdy so far and has a handle for easy carrying. The 2 included cars store inside the toy, which is nice. The figure 8 spinning turns on by a large red button and lasts about 30 seconds, so it's easy for him to operate without help. He's also figured out how to *bop* the car to start it down the track. It is a little loud, but it has an on/off button and you can probably tape over the speaker to quiet it a little. Overall, it's a big hit in our house!

-- it's a multilevel rocketship with rooms, an elevator, stairs, doors, etc.
-- lots of little pieces and parts to add/remove/move around the set
-- large enough for them to mix in their matchbox cars, lego characters etc for even more fun
-- well made, with lots of detail in the painting and decal work. Lots to explore.
Parents take note: this set has an impressive number of parts coming out of the box, but once assembled it's just fine. Assembly took about a half hour but was pretty smooth.

(More customer reviews)My son got this as a gift and he LOVES it. He never seems to tire of racing the cars round and round. He even likes to try push the cars up the ramps. In our experience it worked with almost all of our Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. There were only a few that were either too long to make it around the curves or two wide to go down, but the majority worked just fine. Some cars go faster than others, which makes the racing more fun. The only annoying thing is that the track makes race car noises and says things like "Speed, I am speed" and "You're one gutsy race car". However, you can turn the sound off or just remove the batteries if the sounds make you nuts.
Edited to add: I wanted to add that it works with most Matchbox style cars, but most of the actual Disney cars from the movie Cars do not work. They are mostly too wide for the track.

Caterpillar CAT Rock Mover Track Set Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this toy for my son for his first birthday. Both he and my 3 year old daughter love it. However, an hour after getting it out my 3 year old came running to me screaming with the truck hanging from her finger. Her finger got to close to the gear on the bottom of the truck that makes it move on the track and it didn't stop spinning until it sucked her finger in. It left her with a big blister. I stuck my finger in it to see what it would do. It sucked my finger in too and boy did it hurt. Today my son picked up the truck while it was on and got his finger pinched too. Being a toy for kids 18-24 months you would think this wouldn't be an issue. What happens if a toddler puts the truck in his/her mouth? I took the truck away and will be contacting the company about the issue.

(More customer reviews)Sweet baby Jesus, this toy SUCKS. Get ready for an hour of tedious assembly, followed by about 45 seconds of confused play, and then the ramp will just fall off. I should have been put off by the whole idiotic concept of "Keyhead City"--because what child doesn't want to play with severed fireman heads? They aren't even really keys that you can turn...they just sort of rest loosely in their slots...until you press them, which activates the ear-splitting siren...which you can use to clear traffic on the way to the Emergency Room, after you put your eye out with the sharp, pointy "water bomb" projectiles. And it's so poorly designed! Where are you supposed to sit exactly when you're using the elevator or the catapult? It makes you feel like a left-handed person using right handed scissors. Thank you, Little Tykes, for ruining Christmas.

Love the details like the spring-loaded winch on the front bumper, gas can strapped to the rear bumper, rubber wheels, and roll bar that doubles as a handle. Our 2 1/2 YO is probably a little young for it but he takes it for an occasional spin -- enough to scrape up the laminated wood up where it's come in contact with concrete.
Truthfully, though, he likes his plastic school bus that plays songs better. I'm thinking he may like this more when he's older. Would probably be more fun for him in conjunction with other PlanToys, figures.

(More customer reviews)First off, these toys do not break. They are way too expensive, but in a world of flimsy plastic, they are refreshing for parents.
Now, I personally have fun rolling this thing along and watching the bales of hay pop out the back. My 2-yr-old, though, he loves the little guy. I don't know what it is that is so much better than Fisher Price Little People, but he ignores them, and sleeps with this little farmer dude. He will periodically reintroduce the farmer to his combine and drive it around, but the friction-powered rolling slows him down really - he wants to race this mofo' across the floor and he can't quite do that.
But still, it's a big hit, stays out in use, and has enough red in it to make it clear that is is not a complete product licensing infringement yet still look realistic too!

Harvey is an amazing green machine and has lots of functions to discover. He's friction powered with a realistic engine sound. Darda Upside Down Overpass Review

(More customer reviews)Darda is a huge hit with my four year old daughter! She loves her track, even though she has little to no interest in assembling it. Once assembled, though, the track is fairly sturdy and easy to keep set up for several days. We put it in our dining room and a few times each day would sit down and run our cars on it for awhile.
A month after Christmas, it's been moved to a bedroom where visiting children flock to play with it. We have three cars total so there are enough for a few to play at a time.
Some 3 year olds don't have enough manual dexterity to move the cars fast and long enough to wind them. They also seem to not understand that starting the car on the straight, level part is most effective. I've had to demonstrate that to a few little boys, but my daughter caught on right away. I'd probably not suggest this toy for someone under age 4.

GeoTrax Rail & Road System - Mile High Mountain Review

(More customer reviews)This is a really cool addition to the already fun Geotrax, but not neccesarily good for 2 1/2 year olds. The whole elevation series is hard to build so the 2 1/2 year olds get bored quickly, the proper age is probably 3 1/2.
But the mountain is really fun. Two thumbs up.
