(More customer reviews)My children used an older version of this type of marble game and went bonkers over it. The toy we used was a friends. My wife bought Galt's version and I am ready to toss it into the garbage can. I just hope the retailer will accept a return. The problem is that Galt's materials engineers cut back on the connector strength and the pieces do not stick together well. All it takes to knock this toy down is a minor bump. My kids were totally frustrated and so was I. This was not an issue with the toy my friend had.
Galt, you saved a few pennies on plastic on each set you built but you created a useless toy. Two thumbs down!!!!!!

Fisher Price - Laugh & Learn Learning Table Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased both a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Table and a LeapStart Learning Table. The plan was to see which one our daughter (7 months at the time) liked best. We would keep the one she liked best at home and send the other to Grandma and Grandpa's house. Here is how the two compare.
1. The Fisher Price table is shorter than the LeapStart table and baby seems to be able to pull up on it at a younger age. Baby can also sit at the Fisher Price table easier because it is lower.
2. Both have stable legs and do not tip over when baby leans up against them or pushes on them. Both have legs that can be removed for floor play when baby can not stand. (We never used it this way because our daughter was early to stand.)
3. Both have a learning mode with ABC song and counting to 10 song and a musical mode.
4. In the musical mode the Laugh and Learn table plays tunes to familiar children's songs. It has a traditional feel to the music. The LeapStart table has music based on the different instruments on the table such as a banjo tune, a sax sound, etc. and it has a jazzier feel to the music.
5. The Laugh and Learn table has a food theme and looks like a set table. In the learning mode concepts such as color, shapes, texture, manners, shapes, open/shut, empty/full, peek-a-boo, and naming of common items such as apple, blueberries, banana, juice, etc. The LeapStart table has a musical theme with instruments such as a piano, maracas, sax, violin, and banjo. In the learning mode concepts include colors, shapes, high, low, on, off, hello, goodbye, etc.
6. On the Laugh and Learn table the parent has to change the mode. On the LeapStart table the child can change the mode by turning the page on the book in the center of the table.
7. The Laugh and Learn table has a bowl in the center that spins and can hold favorite objects. The LeapStart table has a small purple door that can hold favorite objects in the indentation underneath the door.
As a parent, I like the LeapStart table more. The music is parent friendly and even after repeated use, it does not annoy adults. I also like the different musical instruments and musical sounds that are introduced. That said, my daughter (now 9 months) likes the Laugh and Learn table better. She likes putting objects like small balls, Cheerios, and her pacifier in the bowl in the center. She also likes the peek-a-boo napkin with the peas underneath which says "Peek-a-boo. I see you." when she opens the door. It makes her laugh. Another favorite is the spoon rattle that can be removed from the table and the alphabet letters that float in the water sealed in the bowl that move around when the bowl spins. This is her favorite toy. She does play with the LeapStart table at her Grandparents house now, but her attention span is short with this toy. She can play with her Laugh and Learn table for long periods of time.

Little People Animal Sounds Farm Review

(More customer reviews)I just can't say enough good things about the Fisher-Price Little People toys. The farm is no exception - another well-made, durable, go-to-it-every-5-minutes toy.
My 15 month old twins just got the farm from their grandparents (grandpa is a farmer), and they LOVE the toy. The animals, as with the other Little People sets, are easy to grasp and don't mind getting chewed on. The noises are fun, and they are already figuring out which animal goes with which sound. They dance to the music every time they play it, and even get a huge kick out of placing the extras (weathervane, windmill and scarecrow) around the farm.
This is another winner!

There are fun animal sounds in every "room" and even a charming animal tune. The food bin in the outdoor animal area changes from food to water when your toddler bats at it. The "merry-go-round area in the front takes the animals on a round-about ride, complete with an animal sing-along when your child "spins" the floor. Rescue Heroes Action Trackers Firetruck Review

(More customer reviews)The quality of this toy is terrible! The latches on the back of the firetruck don't close properly, which makes it difficult to keep the back of the truck closed. Why is this so important? My 4 year old absolutely LOVES cars & trucks where the doors/hood/trunk open and close...to have one where the doors are supposed to open, but don't close properly is disappointing to him. As my son indicated when we first took it out of the box, the back wheels don't turn! It's not possible to get one of the action figures to actually turn the crank with his arms on it...it's a flimsy piece of plastic as compared to some of the other rescue vehicles...for something so important as a fire truck (all little 3 & 4 year old boys know what fire trucks are and do, and mine is pretty excited by the real ones), Fisher Price certainly missed the boat on this one! Go back to the drawing board, and get it right next time!

(More customer reviews)I have been waiting for this game to come out for my daughter as a reward for potty training. My daughter just turned 3 and this game was very easy for her navigate, as the previous poster stated some of other V-Smile games are hard to control. The graphics and characters voices are as if your watching the Cartoon Dora. This game is also very educational with teaching spanish and english colors and numbers. Also they teach animal sounds and recognition of animals (both underwater and farm animals). Today was the first day we had it so I'm sure I'm missing a lot in this review, but this game is by far the best V-Smile game of them all and we have all the V-Smile games (we keep up to date when the new games come out).

Fisher Price Learning Sensation Play with Letters Desk Review

(More customer reviews)My 3 year old loves learning letters and phonics and trying to learn to read. She chose this toy at the toy store in reward for potty training. She couldn't wait to 'drag' those big block letters accross the board! I was so happy she chose something educational. We opened it and what a dissapointment! It is a GREAT CONCEPT! She loved dragging the letters accross the board to make sound (the name of the letter, phonics sound, and letter beginning with it) is said clearly when you drag a letter. The PROBLEM IS that it is just not refined enough. Literally a third of the time, the letters don't read. Even when your child drags the right letter it asks for, it sometimes will not read it giving them the feeling they got it wrong. It was very glad I was sitting there to tell her it was right and to keep trying. Sometimes she had to drag it again and again and it still wouldn't read and we would have to turn the thing off and on again and start with a new letter. I couldn't even get it to read 1/2 the time after she failed even after doing it perfectly as instructed in the manuel-which 3-year olds don't read so what good is touchiness like that in a toy! Total frustration within 10 minutes. The toy has an ON button that is not clearly marked, you just have to know that is the right one. The other 3 buttons for modes of play are confusing. You press the note button for a 'song' about the letter. But it takes forever to play this little intro song and meanwhile, your kid has dragged several letters accross the thing trying to make it work. By the time the intro song is over, they are over with it too and pressing other buttons to get it to work which only confuses the machine more. The other two buttons are a button that makes it ask for certain letters and a quiz button. The questions are fine. My kid was very excited to answer as she knows alot of her letter already and yet 1/3 the time it didn't respond to her rolling the letters. Again, this is a great fun and educational concept but not refined enough. I truly would have rated it the tops for education if I was only rating it when it worked! But, I don't see how it can teach when it doesn't respond to your child's answers half the time. I am going to keep trying to convince my little girl that she should bring this poor working toy back to the store and pick another reward but you know how hard that is for kid's to understand. She wants to play with it so badly but is already walking away from it each time she trys. I am so glad I opened the package carefully! Skip this one and get the little letter desk that comes with a magnetic chalkboard, word cards with cut outs where the letters magnetically fit into, and magnetic letters. It is not electronic but great fun and still taken out every other day here after 6 months. It is by Fisher-Price as well and I think it is called the ABC something and it is much cheaper and self-correcting in that the correct magnetic letters only fit in the word cards! My girl loved being able to 'spell words' with this. Good luck.

Erector 100 pc Bucket Review

(More customer reviews)I got this set for my son, who just turned 7. After receiving Knex and Legos and Bionicles, he was visibly disappointed when he opened this. "It's for little kids," he cried. Oops. The package says for 5 - 8 year olds, but if you've got a good little builder on your hands, it's probably going to be beneath their abilities.
It is a nice Erector Set, but VERY basic. There really isn't anything exciting about it. There aren't enough pieces to make anything really creative, and the tools (a non-adjustable wrench and 'screwdriver') aren't very functional. After a few frustrating minutes, my son tossed the tools aside and tightened the nuts and bolts with his fingers.
The lid doesn't latch closed, it just sets on the top of the tub. It's pretty deceiving -- I thought it latched somehow, but nope!
The instruction booklet contains directions for four items: a giraffe, a swingset, an Indian headdress, and a bow and arrow. It also has pictures of other things you can make, including a 2 dimensional house, tree, numerals, and a boat, and a 3 dimensional plane.
The directions are fairly simple, with pictures of how to assemble the creation, a list of parts needed for that step, and no reading required.
Pieces included are:
9 - 9 1/2" straight pieces: 2 red, 4 orange, 3 white
5 - 6" straight pieces: 4 white, 1 green
4 - 4 1/2" straight pieces: 2 yellow, 2 white
7 - 3 1/2" straight pieces: 5 white, 2 green

I was really pleasantly surprised by the educational content, and all the fun it provides, it is packed with a bunch of interactive little games that keep even a 2 year old interested. My 2 & 4 year olds both love this book. My four year old was jealous that he didn't have THIS book for HIS leap pad (he has bigger leap pad). This book teaches vocabulary both English and Spanish, problem solving, cooperation, and shapes and colors as well. My only wish is that they had more books to buy.

LeapFrog Read and Sing Little Leap Review

(More customer reviews)My children, a 13 month old and a 32 month old, and admittedly, myself, LOVE this adorable little frog! The eldest received this toy for Christmas last year, and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical looking at it in the packaging. So many electronic toys can be too loud, too tin-y sounding, and just overall annoying. Not this little guy. I find the volume to be an acceptable level, the voice is amazingly clear and easy to understand, and cute to boot. At less than 3 years old my daughter can sing the entire alphabet from start to finish without prompting thanks to Little Leap. I was going to detail all of the games that Little Leap can play, but as I took it out to inspect it, the 13 month old came over and grabbed it out of my hands so he could play with it! =) One of the most fought over toys in my house, and provides long periods of educational entertainment. Highly recommend for children ages 1-6 because it is cute and fun enough to catch the attention of a young child, but some of the games are advanced enough to hold the attention of an older child. Since receiving this toy, I have branched out to other Leap Frog toys for my children, and I have to say I recommend the whole line!
