You can buy them cheaper at other places but I got them on Amazon because I was ordering some other things and I got free shipping. Some of the letters fall off the fridge since the magnetic strip is so small and often only on one side of the letter!
I would buy different letters somewhere else.

They are bigger with more magnetics that really stick well to the fridge. My two year loves to move the letters around and knows his alphabet based on these letters. (More customer reviews)This product is good quality and works for what it is supposed to do. It is in fact magnetic, it is sturdy and my daughter (19 months) loves it. She can carry it by the rope; which I agree is strangely designed to take up space on the board, a top mounted rope would be just as good, if not better. However, the board is not double sided, which would have been nice. It is about the same size as a standard 'college' marker board and in my opinion, if you can get a magnetic 'college' marker/message board for half the price, why would you spend this money? A good product, but if I were doing it again, I would get a less expensive board. The other educational insights products make a great addition to this board.

(More customer reviews)We bought these letters for our daughter, and although she does have a lot of fun playing with them, and I love using them to review letters, half of them do not stick to our refrigerator! (We live in an apartment, so it is not the newest refrigerator, but all of our other magnets stick to it very well.) They are a great size, very colorful, and fun to play with, but I can't recommend something with magnetic in the name, when you try to put them on the refrigerator, and half of them slide down and on to the floor. They were not that expensive, and my daughter spends a lot of time playing with them (on the floor), so I guess they were worth the money, but I would not buy another set, and I would certainly not buy a set as a gift.

I was a little disappointed with the thickness of the tiles; they are too flexible and I had wanted something stiffer. I also have trouble with them sticking on the magnet board that I had purchased separately. Overall, for the price they were okay, considering there are so many tiles and you can make complete sentences including punctuation. I also liked that the vowels are in red while the consonants are in blue.

(More customer reviews)This is one of the greatest toys I've ever seen. The letters are made of wood and the front is painted with a smooth, bright, shiny enamel. The best part is that the entire back of the letter is magnetic, not just a little piece like those cheap plastic magnetic letters. These will not fall off and they are plenty strong enough to hold artwork up on the fridge. The come in a durable wooden box with a clear plastic top that slides on and off. They are much bigger than the plastic alphabet magnets so they are easier for little kids to handle without choking. There are both upper and lowercase so there are plenty of letters to make words. My daughter loves playing with them on the fridge and dishwasher. We even gave a set to her 1 year old cousin as a birthday present. I would recommend them to anyone. Believe me, they are well worth the price and your kids will be able to hand them down to their children.

I figure it can't hurt. The only drawback is that some of the letters and numbers are a bit hard to distinguish.
