Plastic Magnetic Letters (set of 36) Review

Plastic Magnetic Letters (set of 36)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got these letters because they are like the ones I had growing up and i wanted my daughter to have them. You can buy them cheaper at other places but I got them on Amazon because I was ordering some other things and I got free shipping. Some of the letters fall off the fridge since the magnetic strip is so small and often only on one side of the letter!
I would buy different letters somewhere else.

Phonics Word Master Review

Phonics Word Master
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Phonics Word Master is an excellent teaching toy, especially if you have a child struggling with basics of language skills.
Hooked on Phonics is primarily a tool to help teach reading skills, but this particular toy is interesting because it does an excellent job of pronouncing letters and words without lots of flashing lights and distractions that may inhibit children who are ADHD or autistic spectrum.
This toy ties the visual representations of letters and words together quite nicely with a straightforward pronunciation of the related sounds.
This toy should also be an excellent tool to help ANY kid learn the basics of reading.

Educo Switchback Racetrack Review

Educo Switchback Racetrack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I did a lot of research and found that this one was the best one I could find on the market. When I got it I found it to be a very good toy.
It is a much larger size then other ones so your child can really get in to it.
It comes already assembled so you can have fun getting it out of the packaging with your child and create some excitement. Plus much less work for you.
It has two tracks instead of one so you can really encourage and engage your child to play by having races.
It is absolutely great quality, well built and will last.
The tracks are lined up and on the right angle so you don't have to worry about to much flipping off track and traffic jams.
It comes with 4 cars instead of just two. The cars are made specifically for the track and to flip over on it. They are also a decent size not to small or to big.
However it is expensive, and is a toy your child will really want to play with someone, not alone. So these things could be a draw back for some.
Also I looked on line elsewhere, as well as, in some catalogs that I get, and found Amazon to have the best price. Plus if you use standard shipping most retailers will ship it for free on Amazon.

Math is Fun Reusable 109-Page Deluxe Workbook for Fat Cat Phonics Starter Set Review

Math is Fun Reusable 109-Page Deluxe Workbook for Fat Cat Phonics Starter Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fat Cat Phonics is an excellent learning tool for children 3 years old and up. It is durable, sturdy, affordable, colorful, interactive and allows a child to move about while learning; a behavior style inherent to children everywhere. The well-crafted box is made to store the attention-getting manipulatives, pen and eraser, all in a pull out drawer, while the top lid of the box turns over to provide a magnetic surface to place the reusable work sheets on, allowing the child to then select the correct manipulatives for the missing letter or number and complete the information needed for that particular worksheet. Very easy to get familiar with the product and it remains entertaining on every level, starting with Getting Ready to Read, to I am Reading, plus handwriting practice and techniques, beginning math in addition to fun and stimulating games to reinforce what the child has already learned with flash cards thrown into the bargain. All of this without a single battery. Yes, this exciting new creation is completely wireless, non-electronic so your child will learn by using his or her own manual skills to the fullest extent possible, all "Inside the Box." The young mother who invented this unique concept is a University of Washington alumni turned housewife who stumbled on to her idea for Fat Cat when helping her daughter find a craft project to make for Christmas presents. [...]I highly recommend the entire line of products offered by Fat Cat Phonics to parents, schools, grandparents or as a gift for any child to give them the learning edge starting at age 3. What better gift to give a child than the gift of learning that is not only educational but fun at the same time. A winning combination if ever there was one. Don't miss this opportunity to have Fat Cat reside in your home. It has my highest recommendation!

Cooperative Game Harvest the Crops Before Winter Comes, Harvest Time Review

Cooperative Game Harvest the Crops Before Winter Comes, Harvest Time
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this game for our two children when they were 3 and 4, and we were pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable it is to play, even for mom and dad. It isn't a competition game as much as it is a cooperation game, so if having a clear cut winner is what you want, this probably isn't the game for you.
Each player has a farm with four different crops to harvest before autumn turns to winter. You roll the die to determine which crop you may pick or if you have to move everyone closer to winter. If winter comes before the crops are harvested, then there might not be enough food for winter, but the object is for everyone to harvest their crops before the onset of winter.
The neat thing about this game is that really the best way to get the harvest in is for everyone to work together to harvest each other's crops and not just work individually on your own crop. There is an additional element (which we have not yet played) to the game where you can plant the garden first and then harvest it. It is for more advanced players, but I think a young player could easily play it too after having played the easier version a few times.
I highly recommend this game for families of all ages. It's been a blessing to watch the kids want to help other players more than they want to harvest their own crop!
