I use these crayons as whole hand crayons with kids who have trouble with grasp. They have good color, are easy to mark with. I wish they weren't hollow because they break very easily.

Manhattan Toy Counting and Sorting Farm Review

Manhattan Toy Counting and Sorting Farm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My 21 month old daughter loves animals, farm animals (especially chickens) and loves to count. When I came accross this toy I knew that she would love it.
There are for main parts in varrying sizes. A large barn for 4 cows, a medium barn for 3 pigs, a small barn for 2 sheep and one nest with one chicken.
The numbers appear on the top and bottom of the barns (which are round soft cyllinders with flat tops and bottoms for stacking) or in the inside and bottom of the nest for the chicken. When you open the barn doors with the hook and loop closure the inside of the door shows what belongs inside, 4 cows etc. Then inside are the different numbers of animals belonging to that barn. They are soft little pillows great for chewing, tossing and squeezing. The animals are all very cute and loveable and the colors used are bright and stimulating.
This will be a toy that my daughter can play with for quite some time then will be a great toy to share with younger babies as well since it is made so safely.
If you have an animal lover or one who loves to count then this is a great toy to get them.

Kids will develop fine motor skills as they remove and replace the animals with Counting and Sorting Farm by Manhattan Toy. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities for make-believe barnyard play. Each of these soft pens has a number printed on it and the same number of stuffed farm critters inside: 1 chick (in a nest), 2 sheep, 3 pigs, and 4 cows.

Vtech Sort 'n Go Car Review

Vtech Sort 'n Go Car
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just purchased this toy from Amazon based on the great reviews it had. Unfortunately I must have received a lemon. Upon opening the toy, I noticed that the red button on the front was broken, it doesn't press down, and it doesn't make any sounds. The other two buttons seem to work fine. Secondly, the shape sorter is next to impossible to use. There are these small blue buttons in the openings for the sorter that activate various sounds and learning for the toddler. The buttons on the toy I have, seem to be sticking out too much, so when you try to push a shape through, the side of the button blocks the opening so that the shape doesn't go through. Like other toys I have, I believe that when you push the shape through the opening, it is supposed to push in the button to make the sounds. This just doesn't work on my toy. I have contacted Vtech regarding these problems and am waiting for a response.
Other than those problems, the toy seems pretty cute. There is a rather long pull-along string that your toddler can pull, which you can also hide in the battery compartment. You can also push it along, and the wheels turning make the dog in the driver's seat sway side to side. There are also two modes, learning and music, which you can select on the top part. The three buttons in the "hood" of the van teach shapes and colors. The shapes are supposed to fit in the back of the van, which also opens in the back so the pieces can be taken out.
The only other downside is that there is no volume control. I guess I will probably put a sticker over the speaker part to muffle it a bit.
At this point, I am not considering giving this toy to my daughter at all, since the sorting is next to impossible and I don't want to confuse her when she puts the correct shape in each opening, only to have it not go through because of the button.
Hopefully Vtech will respond to me soon, so I can update this when it happens.
Okay, Vtech did not reply to my first email, so I sent it again, and after a couple days, Vtech sent me a basic email telling me to replace the batteries and then rapidly slide the on/off switch back and forth 40 times. That seems useless as this product has a push button on/off. Also, this won't help the fact that the red button sticks. The email also said to call them to get a return label if the problem persists.

Crayola Stacking and Nesting Blocks Review

Crayola Stacking and Nesting Blocks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent toy for a wide range of young children. (I would say 18 months thru 6 years). For toddlers, it is fun to make a tower bigger than you and then fun at any age to come up with creative ways to knock it down. There is educational information on the blocks on colors, numbers, and letters, but I would get it even if they were not as packed full of information.
I'd highly recommend this one!!!

Melissa & Doug Wooden Animal Nesting Blocks Review

Melissa and Doug Wooden Animal Nesting Blocks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our daughter received these blocks when she was 16 mo. old and absolutely loves them! She stacks them, nests them, and builds sloping steps for her cars to run down. I was worried they would be too advanced for her (since the recommended age is 2 yrs) but I think that the 2 yr recommendation is to be able to sort the blocks by animal type, color etc. We gave this set as a gift to a 1 yr old and she loved it too. The blocks are made of lightweight wood, so they can be lifted easily, but are strong enough for climbing, sitting, and and being thrown as the tower gets knocked down. Melissa & Doug make such great products and this is no exception. Tons of fun and best of all, no batteries or electronic sounds required!

12 Piece Block Set by Children's Factory Review

12 Piece Block Set by Children's Factory
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These blocks are a blast and the possibilities of play are endless. We had them outside this summer and with a quick wipe off with a damp paper towel we brought them back in for the winter. Awesome for gross motor skills development and durable enough for even the most wild little boys. My only complaint is that the corners are a little sharp but I seem to be the only one affected by them. I would recommend them for any play room for crawlers on up, and daycares they are easy to clean and soft enough that even when thrown they don't hurt!

BRIO Magnetic Blocks Review

BRIO Magnetic Blocks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the magnetic stacking blocks about 1 1/2 years ago for my child (now 2 1/2). I loved the idea of children having beginning blocks that could actually stick together and not immediately fall down. These are very well made. Because they are magnetic with one side "positive"/ one side "negative", I put a tiny permanent marker dot on the positive side of all the blocks. My daughter immediately picked up on this (at 12 months, they are more observant that we think sometimes) and that did the trick. She knew how to stick them together. They stick together well enough on the floor but if picked up too vigorously, or with too many stuck together- they come apart- lots of fun for the child as well. Her main issue was that there were not enough blocks to really feel like she could build something as she gets older so I bought a second set and the train. It works great for us.
If you have an older child, the discovery of how the magnets repel or attract will be interesting, but if they are younger most likely just frustrating so I suggest the dot idea. It is a safe beginning magnet set because there is no way the child can access the magnet- it is inside the shapes. Be sure to check out the train based on the same idea- it might be a better fit for you or a good addition.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe 10-Piece Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks Review

Melissa and Doug Deluxe 10-Piece Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My daughter has enjoyed this cardboard block set. She enjoys the blocks because they stack tall, unlike her smaller plastic building blocks, which do not stand well on the carpeting. She often builds up the blocks, knocks them over, and starts over again.
She does not care about the pictures on the blocks, but she recognizes the letters, which are all written uppercase. Some of the blocks are difficult for a toddler to associate the picture with the letter (e.g. a rabbit with a rose for the letter "R," but most toddlers would see a bunny with a flower).
I have used the blocks for other games, such as "Memory" by hiding smaller objects (such a sock or paper) under the blocks and asking her to remember which object is under which block.
I would recommend this product for children aged two-years and older. The cardboard blocks could easily be damaged by a younger child, rendering the blocks unstackable.

At first I thought this was a big hit but the newness wore off within a couple tub times. I don't like the squirt toys because eventually mold builds in them and have to be trashed. It's neat that the island floats and is build well but again, just not a huge hit.

For whatever reason, this simple toy has been my 16 month old boy's favorite bath/pool toy for the past four months. He loves the spinning propeller and the wiggling periscope. When he spots it floating among his other water toys, he smiles, says "Elmo", and quickly grabs it. He'll switch to other toys but returns to the Elmo Submarine again and again.
