Fisher Price Little People - Busy Day Home Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Bought this for daughter who does love it. But there are design issues I'd have thought would have been worked out by now. I was growing up in the 80's and Fisher Price had much nicer play houses then that were larger and had more rooms to them. This one is much differently designed, smaller, less rooms. It has sound effects to it which could be nice: phone rings, doorbell, toilet flushes. But the toilet only flushes if you RAISE the lid ????? and should flush when you lower the lid. The front door NEVER stays on. You don't even have to mess with it much like open it, you touch it and it just falls off the hinges because they didn't make them well. Overall daughter loves it (nothing to compare to) but as a parent I'm disappointed.

So much to do and so many sounds to hear in the Busy Day Home! Brrring -- Mom's in the kitchen talking on the phone. Ding-dong -- Dad's about to answer the front door. And baby's outside playing with doggie and kitty. Kids make all the action happen, with a fridge door that opens and closes, a potty that flushes and lots more. Includes three cute, chunky figures (mom, dad and baby), bed, table and two chairs.Requires 2 "AA" batteries, not included. Measures approximately 15.5" x 7.87" x 16".

Vtech Tote and Go Laptop Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Wow! I am so glad I bought this. After reading reviews on all of the other "laptops" for children, I decided on this one after thorough research. Most complaints with other parents on the other laptops was about the LCD screen being so small, while the screen on this is perfect for its size and intent. I did not have trouble seeing anything. So it doesn't light up, I'm thankful, that's one less battery to replace. The other complaint I read about the others is that they were loud. This one is not. My children playing with their toys doesn't disturb me though. If they are learning & interacting with the toy, I'm happy.
Another fun feature on this paticular "laptop" is that it has a working mouse. You can click to enter & move it slightly left or right or up & down (it is attached to the pad) to get to another activity or participate in one of the thirty plus fun games that offer pre-K learning & Kindergarten learing...find the shape that is bigger, etc... And yes I played with it to make sure everything worked correctly & to see what & how it would be teaching my children. It does teach & it has been fun for mine. It is a sturdy laptop with more bang for the buck than the rest of the other "laptops with many complaints" out there. You will be glad you purchased this for your little one. I have NO COMPLAINTS with this product. I also get involved with my children as much as I can to show them how learning can be fun. This purchase has been a smart one! Thank you Amazon!!! Go VTech !!!!

(More customer reviews)My daughter (34 months) loves this set of the Loving Family toys, mainly because it is one of the only sets that comes with a cat. I think the toys are remarkably durable, the sounds are clear and fun... this has been a huge hit in our house.

Candyland Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)...there are several good reasons why "Candy Land" is the first board game children learn to play:
First, the game does not require children know how to read. They do not even need to know their numbers as they do in "Chutes and Ladders." Movement is based on a child being able to recognize colors and symbols. What could be easier than that?
Second, the game is based on luck (or chance or divine intervention or however you want to characterize it), which means it is a great equalizer. This is a game where a kid has the same chance of winning as their parents, older siblings, grandparents, babysitters or whoever. Children are not going to be interested in playing a game they cannot win, which is why "Candy Land" is where they begin instead of "Monopoly" or "Trivial Pursuit."
Third, the game teaches the basic skills of board games. The hardest lesson kid have to learn with this game is to...take turns. Yes, this might be one of the first times in their young lives when kids are confronted with the regiment of structure that will afflict them the rest of their lives. But from board games like "Candy Land" to sports like baseball, structure and rules are a basic consideration. Strategy and tactics come later, but learning to take turns comes first (and I could argue is a basic lesson in civil behavior).
Therefore, I would respectfully submit that "Candy Land" remains the ideal choice for the first board game you play with your children. Just pick a card, move to the appropriate square, and proceed to have a great life.

This is the classic "child's first game", and preschoolers will love it. Children draw colored cards, and move their plastic gingerbread playing tokens to the next square of the same color. Passing the peppermint forest and the ice cream sea on the way, the first one to reach the candy castle wins. No need to read to play this game.2 to 4 players can play this game. This board game includes a game board, four plastic playing pieces, 64 cards, "Legend of the Lost Candy Castle", and instructions in English and Spanish.

Battat Shape Sorter Bucket Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a shape sorter bucket with, stars, circles, squares and triangle shapes, 2 for each shape so you get 8 in total. The problem with this toy is that the bucket was slightly out of shape, so the lid was difficult to fit, and this of course frustrated my toddler. I went back and exchanged it for another one but that also had the same problem. Also, you can push the triangle through the circle cut out if you put it sideways and have it at just the right angle. Don't get me wrong, the toy has some education value, but there are so many better made shape sorters out there, I wouldn't recommend this one. I did buy this at a local store that sells brand names items at a discount so I only paid $5 so it's not worth taking back to the store, but it's certainly not worth more than that.
The main problem I have is the shapes fit through a paper towel roll. From what I read, any type of toy/block..ect that fits through a paper towel roll is considered a choking hazard.
