(More customer reviews)I wanted to point out that I think it says 5" in the description for how big this Gnome is. It is actually 3 1/8" tall according to the box I received! So it is tiny.
It does come with acrylic paints, so guessing it should therefore be okay to go outside too.
For the price & what is included it is a great gift for someone, or fun for your own child to do on a rainy day!

She likes crafts and she isn't really old enough for me to teach her crochet or knitting, but this seemed like something similar that she could do. Her grandmother helped her work on it for a little while on Christmas day, then it disappeared into her room never to be seen again. She was able to do it, but apparently it wasn't very entertaining. Oh well.
I gave it as many stars as I did because the loom and the yarn were good quality (for a toy) and the package it comes in can be used as a carrying case (so the peices stay together and don't get scattered to the four winds like most of her toys).

The punch out animals were large enough to be colored or painted easily and the glue-ons were large enough to be manipulated by small hands. She especially liked that she could pick out which animals to color, decide what they would look like and make them all different. She took them to show and tell at shool. Alex Toys My First Sewing Kit Review

(More customer reviews)This is a nice introduction to sewing for about ages 5 to 9. The project ideas are pretty cute and the fabric and trims are colorful, so most kids will be excited about making the stuffed animals and the bag, at least. (We didn't have a book of the correct size for the book cover project, but used the fabric for something else.) The projects aren't too complicated for beginning sewers but are neat enough to interest a (slightly) more experienced young seamstresses. My one criticism is that the scissors are just toys, and do not cut at all, and the "thimble" is also pretty useless if your child really needs to push a stitch through.

So much so that I'm ordering another set with different accessories for her birthday gift. As for the brown box packaging, big deal! It's what's inside the box that counts. If it really matters, then print out a picture of what it is and glue it to the box. Jeesh!!

(More customer reviews)My DS received this as a gift for his 4th birthday. He didn't get much into it at first, but he recently rediscovered it (some months later) and just adores it. He has so much fun watching the colors develop, and experimenting with different things to rub/scrape it with! And I love that he can't color our furniture and walls with it! It's also very portable, so it's good for taking places where he might need a little compact distraction (restaurants, visiting, etc). The only downsides I can think of is that the papers must be stored carefully, or the finish may be damaged (which leaves white/pale spots when rubbed), and also some of the smaller papers (stickers, bookmarks) are easily lost. Also, it'd be really nice if a decent selection of different packs of papers were readily available!

Colors and shapes combined w/ a craft. Then you can put the hanger it comes w/ on the back and hang it up on the wall. They are really nice when all done. A 3 year old might need some adult assistance but not much. Takes less than a half hour to complete one. I recommend all the sticky mosaics!

(More customer reviews)I really enjoyed doing this with my almost 5 yr old daughter. I seemed to do most of the work though, because she was trying to peel the things too fast. Well, I peeled the stickers off and put on the paper, then you peel the protective coating off the top. Those two processes I needed to do to make sure the sticky coating came off with the sticker to start. Sometimes a piece of the underneath sticky side gets stuck with all the different shapes and angles of the stickers, so you have to help it. My daughter put the metallic pieces over the stickers and rubbed them onto the clear sticker part. I also helped her do that to make sure it was all stuck to the sticker, before she peeled the metallic sheet off. Then you just lift the metallic pieces and voila, you have your sticker art done! It's really quite fun! :) I am going to write to the company though because our blue and green metallic sheets do not work. It peels the sticker back off with it, unlike all the other colors. It seems like there is a certain coating that the green and blue sheets are missing, as they aren't as shiny on the back as the other colors.
We haven't done the poster parts yet, but I know I'm looking forward to it! :)

Giddy-up Princess Mini Blendy Storybook Box Activity Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 4 yr. old grandchild. The main activity involves the included stencils. The stencils are made up of very small figures with very thin lines therefore it's difficult to punch out the shapes without tearing out a piece that's not supposed to be open. An adult MUST do the stencil punching and even for me it was hard. The "blendy" part of this activity is impossible for anyone under 7-10 to do adequately. It involves twisting oppposite ends of the pens in opposite directions several times to get any result at all. It requires a "wringing" motion that a child of 4 can't master, especially as it requires some force to turn. I've never reviewed a product before but I really hate for someone else to buy this thinking it looks like fun. It does look like it, but it is not. Those tiny stencils are ridiculous!

Alex Little Hands Craft All Day Review

(More customer reviews)This craft supply container comes with a little booklet of ideas that even my (not-yet-reading) six-year-old can follow. They even suggest turning the box itself into a toy. There is a large amount of shredded paper, but there are tons of other things, pompoms, feathers, googly eyes, corrigated paper (to use like thick construction paper) pre-folded cards, a few pipe cleaners. More, but those were our favorites.
It is certainly keeping my crafy daughter happy, and I like it much better than one we had for her older sister with zillions of little drawers each containing a single type of item, as this is much faster to clean up, harder to spill, and contains mostly bigger stuff.
I dont' think you'd have to worry much about a younger sibling getting into this stuff and choking; mostly everything is too big for that.
I'd recommend it to others and consider buying another when this one runs out.
