32pc Large Red Blocks Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased these blocks to replace ones that were very worn out in our church's preschool department. These are the "real" blocks. Very sturdy, very easy to assemble. The cardboard is quite thick. In order to replace all the blocks we had to toss, we ordered from four different companies to get different sizes, shapes, etc. These were by far the best quality (thickest cardboard) and ordering from Joe's was by far the least expensive way to get the quantity of large blocks we needed. Shipping was very fast and customer service was excellent. A bit of advice for anyone ordering cardboard blocks - after you assemble them, wrap them in contact paper to make them last longer. It helps the block hold it's shape (because children will jump on them) and it also makes it much easier to wipe them clean as well as prevents children from gnawing on the corners and peeling the paper.

Mega Bloks Thomas Buildable Character Percy Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased Mega Bloks Thomas Buildable Character Percy to give my grandson something to do when visiting my mother's (his great-grandmother) recently. This did the job I intended for it to do. He is 3 1/2 and is really into trains, especially Thomas. He also has an interest in building things. This combined his interests quite well.
ETA: I purchased 3 of these sets (Thomas, Emily and Percy). He played with them without any additional blocks, so additional blocks aren't necessary.

She loves the colors and the texture of the mat. Look beyond the original inention of this toy and see its many possibilities. Just a little side note: Our therapist has had the same one for a year now and uses it with 5 or 6 kids a day. So far, it has held up wonderfully. Don't let the foam mat fool you...

Fisher-Price TRIO Dinosaur Review

(More customer reviews)I don't post a lot of reviews on anything, but I feel like the Trio sets deserve the praise. I'll keep it brief with my personal pros, cons, and a summary.
PROS
1) Sturdy pieces. Nothing breakable here! (If we have grandkids way down the road, these will still be great)
2) Nice variety. Most of the blocks look similar at a glance but many connect in different directions.
3) Creations that are built will stay together.
4) Wide age range. Our 4 yr old makes cute stuff but our 10 year old and his friends also make guns, spaceships, tanks, submarines, robots, etc. You name it.
5) Intuitive. Just like Legos, the kids just know what to do.
6) No tiny pieces. Tired of the really tiny lego pieces? I am. These are easy to see and pick up -before- you hear them in the vacuum cleaner.
CONS
1) Price. I feel the price is high for plastic, like Legos. I'm patiently watching Amazon and Fisher Price for discounts.
2) Hard to snap together. I have to concede these are a sort of hard to snap, but don't make that the deciding factor. Your kids will overcome this.
SUMMARY
I originally bought a few Trio sets just because they were on sale, in fact they were sort of "filler" Christmas gifts for our younger son. They turned out to be a huge surprise and I absolutely recommend them if you have boys between 3-10 years old. (It still amazes me at how much my 10 year old plays with them.) My wife is an artist and she loves the creative aspect. We both appreciate that our 4 year old can actually play with his Trio creations, they aren't fragile like so many of our Lego sets. As a last note: When we turn off the TV and the kids have to find a toy or game or book or something to do, playing with the Trio blocks is frequently the choice they make, and that says more than everything I've written here.

It is very sturdy (he puts all his weight on it while pushing it around) and has a nice "digging" movement. The rocks are lots of fun for him to put in all his other trucks as well. You can't tell in the picture but there is a little button in the back you can press to see the engine. He likes it so much he is getting the WOW recycling truck for Christmas.

My son loves this toy, but the pieces are always falling apart (it is a toolbox shape that opens and folds back up) The hinged pieces are always coming apart. I have stopped bothering to put it together to put it away. It is a very annoying toy because of this. They could have totally improved the design on this toy and I would have given it a good rating. I wouldn't recommend it until the manufacturer decides to put money and thought into the design. I find it to be a cheap piece of junk that didn't have to be.

Fuzzoodles Fluffy Friends Plush Construction Kit (Large) Review

The plastic accessory pieces are heavy, and the "pipe cleaner" type fuzzy wires aren't sturdy enough to take the weight of the plastic pieces. It's extremely difficult to create one of these figures that will balance and stay upright. They certainly can't be played with - if anyone touches the precariously balanced figure, it will topple over.
Fortunately, we purchased our set on sale for a low price, but I would have been furious if I had paid full price. I can't imagine that my daughter can play with this set on her own, and I'll be surprised if she plays with it more than 2-3 times. Save your money!!!

So much so that I'm ordering another set with different accessories for her birthday gift. As for the brown box packaging, big deal! It's what's inside the box that counts. (More customer reviews)For a house with zero guns, and the most violence they're exposed to is New Super Mario Bros. Wii, my kids love their Trio pieces due to the variety of guns they can build! Long ones? Yup. Tiny ones? Oh yeah, LOTS. Big, chunky ones with wings and eyes? Yep, somehow it's a gun, too. Sometimes they'll even shake things up and build a space ship...then include a bare minimum of four guns on them.
Now, the Trio pieces are not as easy as LEGO, so you and your kids will initially find them harder to snap together and apart, but the thrill and desire behind expert gun making won't keep any child away from the building.
***My wife is FORCING me to say that it comes with a design booklet to help you make interesting things like a giraffe, which she built with them on day one. She's ignoring the fact that it was soon destroyed to make a gun version with the eyeballs becoming laser eyes. LASER EYES!!!
