The pieces go together flawlessly - the engineering of the plastic is superb. The elevator works as designed and the battery pack (2xAA) connects via a short cord - very convenient. He has already spent many hours playing with it!

(More customer reviews)Really fun toy - my 4 yr old girl loved it (although it has been only 2 weeks since we got it).
Definitely needs some adult supervision as the parts are a little hard to connect.
It really needs to be on a table top or hard floor to keep its balance.
I think this transparent version is great because you see the ball - opaque ones would
only allow you to see the ball going in and at the end, coming out.
The construction seems durable enough - there is a slight stretch in the plastic.
You could twist it without breaking. Have fun!

Quercetti Super Marble Run Vortis, 224 Pieces Review

(More customer reviews)I was initially concerned about the durability of this product since similar marble runs have been rated as low-quality or wobbly. HOWEVER, my concerns were quickly put to rest when my niece and I began constructing towers on Christmas Eve!
The pieces fit together easily and the bases are fairly sturdy on an even surface (we didn't have much trouble on the somewhat uneven carpet either, however). There are a ton of pieces (moreso than a lot of other marble runs) and there is an interesting variety of spirals, swirls, vortex pieces, spinners and slides.
My niece is 4, and really enjoys putting the marbles in to see where they go (bonus points if they shoot off to nowhere, in her opinion).
This set is designed for older kids if they're going to play on their own. HOWEVER, with adult guidance my 4 year old loves it and does very well with it...and mom and dad approve!
Bonus: This is just as much fun for adults to play with as it is for kids. It's great to have a toy that I don't mind playing with (EVERY time I'll be coming over). I'm seriously considering buying one for myself just to have around. It's great fun!

Marble Run: 105-Piece Set Review

(More customer reviews)I teach preschool and bought this to go with a previous set we had, because the preschoolers are so disappointed if too many children are already playing and they can't play with the marble run. It takes a great deal of thinking to set the run up so that marbles flow through, but our 4 and 5 year olds are able to do it, and even if they're not totally successful, it still works and they can see where they want to make adjustments. Pieces are fairly durable as long as children aren't overly rough with them, and it holds together fairly well once they make it, so they can run marbles through. I definitely recommend this product!

(More customer reviews)The twin boys I watch (almost 3) love this thing! They sit & play with it for an hour @ a time. The balls do fall off the track sometimes but it's no big deal they just put them back on (99% of the time it is the green ball that has a flat end that falls off, the other two included balls seem to do just fine). It's an expensive toy but we love it & it's nice to hear the wooden rolling noises & bell tinkle rather than sirens or other annoying noises. Glad i bought it!

(More customer reviews)Look closely at the picture on the box. You will see that there are strings that are connecting the middle structure to the furthest away part of the rails. The reason for this is that the rails are not very rigid and without the strings, the rails will deflect so much due to the weight of the marble that they will fall off. The instructions have a few designs that the Skyrail can be made into, and due to the rails not being that rigid, there is not much more you can do with it. It might be a good toy for those that can follow instructions well, like to put together a lot of parts, are satisfied with the few configurations, that are careful enough not to break the parts, have the patients to adjust the strings properly, and are gratified with the sound of the marble going around. If that does not describe the child you are getting it for, then it will likely be constructed a couple of times and then sit in the corner and occasionally be switched on for a few minutes.

(More customer reviews)I did a lot of research and found that this one was the best one I could find on the market. When I got it I found it to be a very good toy.
It is a much larger size then other ones so your child can really get in to it.
It comes already assembled so you can have fun getting it out of the packaging with your child and create some excitement. Plus much less work for you.
It has two tracks instead of one so you can really encourage and engage your child to play by having races.
It is absolutely great quality, well built and will last.
The tracks are lined up and on the right angle so you don't have to worry about to much flipping off track and traffic jams.
It comes with 4 cars instead of just two. The cars are made specifically for the track and to flip over on it. They are also a decent size not to small or to big.
However it is expensive, and is a toy your child will really want to play with someone, not alone. So these things could be a draw back for some.
Also I looked on line elsewhere, as well as, in some catalogs that I get, and found Amazon to have the best price. Plus if you use standard shipping most retailers will ship it for free on Amazon.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my 5 year old nephew and for me because many of his toys are old and not challenging for his age. This was a little too much for him. The pieces are so light that the legs are not very stable on their own. We were holding it upright as the marbles were coming down. The braces for the yellow rail swirls were difficult for my 9 year-old nephew to get on.
At the same time, it was fun. The overall way you put the pieces together is easy. The designs are limitless. But unless your kids are coordinated, you'd better love construction games yourself because they will need your help.

(More customer reviews)As I researched these, I noticed alot of disappointed reviews w/the Galt. You can see the insert part is only half the length of the older style. Major design flaw. Most in the reviews I've read like the old style and I have one so I looked on the toy and what you want is a Discovery Toys, toy. It's called Marbleworks. Some FYI so your not stuck buying crap!!! My son likes his (from garage sale) and I want to get more pieces. The Quercetti Marblerail is decent but not heavy-duty like the Discovery Toys one.
