This is a great lacing toy for little kids. The cards are durable and the creatures are very cute. Great for helping develop hand-eye coordination and general motor skills!

Playskool Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur Review

Playskool Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

"Kota, Kota, Kota ... hahahahaha ..... rrrruuuuuup!" is the new catchphrase at the house lately.
My 18 month old son got one of these recently because his father couldn't resist, ahem. His mother says several times a day that his father is living his second-childhood.
Kota is a Triceratops that (with supervision - in the beginning) your little one can sit on and play with like there's no tomorrow. There's a handle behind the 'ear flaps' to help them stay on as well as a button for music.
The animal responds to voice and touch and makes an array of noises that are all humorous and laughable. My son giggles endlessly every time the thing belches, which is pretty funny.
Lately these toys have become a lot more advanced and much more interesting and interactive for kids. I've bought too many toys that my son just becomes quickly bored of, but both Kota and 'Spike the Dino' are his favorites.
I can't find anything at fault with this toy, and it's a better substitute for climbing on rather than the arms of the couches or trying to maneuver up unto the dining table. This is a good toy worth a few hours everyday. Turning it off also teaches a good lesson about sleeping, or rather "Doo daa doo daa"
The only thing I don't like are the 6 D batteries it uses rather than the rechargeable battery that comes with Spike. It's a minor point though. No biggie.

Kota's tail, head, eyes, horns and mouth are animated, and he comes with a fun music mode so riders can trounce along to dino songs. When he's hungry, kids can feed him special leaves and he'll be happy. Kota measures 21"L x 44"W x 28"H. Requires six "D" batteries, not included. Holds up to 60 lbs.

TWO DOZEN (24 pc) Dinosaur Stamps Review

TWO DOZEN (24 pc) Dinosaur Stamps
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These stamps come in a bag which contains 4 bags of 6 stamps each. There's plastic to hold the cap on the stamp. The stamps are about 2 inches tall and 1" in diameter. They're self-inking. The impression material looks like it will wear out quickly, or perhaps it won't. As with most stamps, impressions aren't incredibly crisp unless stamped very carefully. The images on paper in the picture are an accurate representation of what you get.

12 Vinyl Dinosaur Characters Review

12 Vinyl Dinosaur Characters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought these as a favor for a two year old's birthday party. They are a great squishy, cartoonish, rubber ducky-like toy. The picture represents really well the style and quality of what you will get, and shows each style dinosaur. Three of each style come in the package. The only downside to these dino's is their size. The size is accurate in the description but when you see it in person you quickly realize how a willful 2 year old could probably shove the whole thing in their mouth and choke on it. It even says on the bag they come in, "Not intended for children under 3 years". Considering the product is a rubber cartoon dino, I feel it's marketed at the under 3 set and could have been made just a touch bigger to eliminate any question of a choking hazard. The size I really feel is boderline, so some parents may think they are fine and some won't and it probably depends just as much on the individual child. It's just a shame there has to be a question on this otherwise adorable little toy.

My 2 and 4 1/2 year old kids love this toy. The concept is simple, easy one button push for to make it go and my older child can make it spin in circles and then aima it exactly where she wants it to go. It's cute, durable so far and easy to use. Great beginner radio control toy!

Animal Planet Soft Dinosaur Playset - 10 Piece Set Review

Animal Planet Soft Dinosaur Playset - 10 Piece Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our son received this set as a birthday gift for his 3rd birthday. He and his 5 yr old sister love playing with it and it is one of the most played with toys in the house. The pieces are sturdy with the exception of the tree. Within the first two days, all of the branches had snapped off due to their flimsy attachment. The only thing holding them on are very thin metal rods which snap if accidentally stepped on or if the child bends them at all. Neither of our kids are necessarily rough with their toys. The tree branches just snapped off during regular play. All in all, not a huge deal but irritating. The kids still love to play with it and it is by far one of their most favorite toys.

Educational Insights Tyrannosaurus Rex (GeoSafari Dino Digs) Review

Educational Insights Tyrannosaurus Rex (GeoSafari Dino Digs)
Average Reviews:

I bought this set for my 8-year-old brother. He wanted to dig up the dinosaur right away!
The tool included is plastic and about as sharp as a plastic butter knife, so your child should be safe, which was my main concern.
The only downside to this set is it is very dusty. Also, you put together the dinosaur with the provided wax, which is definitely an adult supervision task.

Edushape Bonding Dinosaur Baby Toy Review

Edushape Bonding Dinosaur Baby Toy
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The previous reviewer is correct. This dinosaur toy is not accurately described. There are no mirrors, no squeakers, and no crinkles as described in the product description by the manufacturer in the item listing on Amazon.
The dinosaur is brightly colored and seems to be fairly well-made (despite being manufactured in China). The left hand of the dinosaur holds two plastic ring. The right hand holds a flexible rubber key (possibly to chew on) that arrived scratched on both sides.
I bought this for my friend's son for his first birthday but I plan to return it. It is not "loaded with discovery" as described in the listing and on the tag. I also worry about a baby chewing on an item manufactured in China based on the recent problems with imported toys.

Fisher-Price? Roll-a-Rounds? Drop & Roar? Dinosaur Review

Fisher-Price? Roll-a-Rounds? Drop and Roar? Dinosaur
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was awaiting the release of this toy. He loves his blocks and block toys but none of the roll-a-rounds toys were his type. So he had about 25 balls but no toy to go with them. This looked perfect! He enjoys it but not like I thought he would (he LOVES balls). Here are my problems with it.
(1) The middle hole, it drops down to make the pendulum swing and more then half of the time, the ball gets stuck at that point.
(2) The balls get stuck coming out of that hole as well...
(3) The head comes off real easily and its never on the toy (he takes it off every time especially since its easy to get off)
(4) kind of boring... thought there would be a spiral slide of some variety as kids love that.
(5) music & lights are nothing special either.
I usually LOVE FP toys and we own sooo many. I am happy with my incredi-table and with the wagon for the blocks. This one just wasn't worth t he money.
----------
UPDATE: 11/06/2008
Well, we're on boy #3 that is using this toy. It's held up extremely well and even my oldest plays with it still. The balls still get stuck... now there is a whole other element to getting stuck as they loves to put their cars in it (down the slide through teh mouth, down the block-slide...). Guess it was worth the money after all (and not what it's listed here as..)

Educational Insights Velociraptors (GeoSafari Dino Digs) Review

Educational Insights Velociraptors (GeoSafari Dino Digs)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If your child loves dinosaurs, you *must* buy this.
I bought this for my 4-year-old son because he eats, sleeps, breathes dinosaurs. Inside a brick of clay lurks the "skeletons" of two velociraptors. The kit includs a digging/scraping tool and brush for my little paleontologist to literally dig the two skeletons out of the brick.
The booklet included in the kit is extremely well-done; it discusses dinosaurs and velocirators' living and eating habits, shows the different pieces of plastic skeleton that were buried within the clay, gives tips on identifying and how to record findings, and gives instructions for putting the pieces together to make complete skeletons.
I have to admit that the clay is very hard, and scraping takes a very long time--so we gently tap away chunks of the clay using a tack hammer and small chisel. I do most of the scraping, and he does the brushing. The brush isn't big enough, so the buyer might invest in a much bigger paintbrush (or old blush brush).
The best part is discovering yet another bone. They are exciting to find, challenging to extract, and very fun!

Educational Insights Stegosaurus (GeoSafari Dino Digs) Review

Educational Insights Stegosaurus (GeoSafari Dino Digs)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The GeoSafari kits are the more educational of the dinosaur excavation kits, providing a booklet with fun facts and projects as you excavate and assemble your dinosaur. It is also the least messy, with the bones packed in clay. Unfortunately these are the only advantages over other kits you could by. The excavation tools provided ensure that it will take a long while to get to the bones. And the bones don't snap into each other like other kits. Instead, you use wax to hold them in place. The wax is messy but is supposed to allow for movement if you want to put your dinosaur in different poses. Unfortunately what you wind up having is a skeleton that falls apart easily.
For the same type of kits I'd go with the EduScience brand.

Santa brought this set to my 3yo son. While my little guy needs help building the pictured truck, he invents his own simpler truck. Mega Bloks/Legos are great for developing little kids' small motor skills and imaginations. The direction packet that comes with this set suggests several different vehicles that can be built; I like that it's a set of a BUNCH of blocks, not just a bunch of accesories for a single vechicle. Lots of open ended play. Shop around for best price though.

Melissa & Doug Dinosaur Stamp Set Review

Melissa and Doug Dinosaur Stamp Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this stamp set for my 3 year old. I was concerned when I was ordering it that it might not be up to the job of withstanding a 3 year old, due to the low price. When we recieved it, we tore it open to find the box was made of sturdy wood, as well as all the stamps. And yes, the ink really is washable! You just put the stamp under warm water and the ink just rinses away. It comes out of clothing, walls and just about anywhere else toddlers may think to put it. And the rubber stampers that are attached to the wooden blocks are very clear when stamped. There are no broken lines or unwanted blotches. I recently went to a local craft store looking for more stamps and found the prices to be overly rediculous. This kit is definately worth more than I paid. My son asks to play "dino stamps" all the time, and I don't mind pulling it out for him, because it really is washable. The colored pencils are wonderful, as the ink dries fairly quickly, so you can use them to color in the stamped outline. I most definately recommend this to anyone!

Educational Insights Triceratops (GeoSafari Dino Digs)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great toy for kids and their parents to share. I did the dig with my 5 years old daughter and we both had a blast and got our game room thoroughly dusty. Was totally worth it...
The box includes a block of sand stone that you dig through with a plastic tool and a brush. Both tools were a little small for me but worked fine for my daughter. We added a second tool set from our play-dough set and a regular painting brush so we could both dig together. overall time to complete is about 2 hours if you take it slowly and act like its a real dig (as in don't lift the block and only chip away at it from the top).Once we recovered all the pieces we put it together (definitely requires grownup help here) and it now rests happily on one of her book shelfs.
Overall its a fun activity and the booklet that comes with it is also pretty nice (additional activities and some descriptions of the dinosaur.
Note that the product sold on Amazon is just one box and not all four.

We got this at Wal-mart for [...]. It was the only one we could find in the store and couldn't find where it went on the shelf (someone had put it on a random shelf when we found it). It's just a head and neck with a mouth that chomps down, but my three year old loves it. Like the description says it has two modes, roar and fun. My son loves the fun mode with the dino head saying "Yuck, patwoee!" when he put his hand in it's mouth (or one of our hands). Comes with a bone for him to chomp on (or for the kid to practice picking up with the mouth).
